Hello people.

I am having some issue with my FPS in BF4. I have two PCs ill start by telling you the specs.

Rig 1.

AMD 1090T, 7950 3GB, 8GB Dominator @ 1600mhz, Crosshair Formula 4, Corsair 800w PSU, Kingston 3K SSD, H80 Liquid cooler. Win 8.1

Rig 2.

Intel i5 2500k, 4GB of the cheap stuff Ram, HD 6850 1GB, 500w Cheapo £14 powersupply (hope it doesnt blow up) , Artic freezer Cooler, Kingston 3k SSD. Win 8.1

Now on the intel Rig on BF4 i get about 60 - 75 max fps on Medium settings sometimes it dips slightly but still very playable. Now on the AMD rig the Asus 7950 only gets around 45 - 50 max on High settings and Ultra is just rubbish.

I downloaded all he latest drivers, bios updates, swapped out the ram even but has not made a difference. I dont want to take apart my AMD rig as i like the colour scheme and everything matches. Any ideas on what i can be?

Surly the 7950 has to be far more superior than a old 6850 lol i also have two 5850s the thing i love about them cards are they are soooooo quiet just out of curiosity what graphics card of todays standard would it be close to in terms of performance?

You do realize you are running your 6850 at lower settings which explains why they are running at higher fps? BF4 medium to high is quite a step up in visuals and can require much more grunt from a gpu. I run my 7950 BF4 at max with only 2x msaa and i get around 45-60fps.

I also want to stress these fps are in battle playing offline i have not played the game very long so there could be other parts in the game it may drop lower. And the 7950 gets around 35 when it dips and max 45 not 50 sorry got the wrong. And oh yeah i am using fraps to monitor the frames.

Well from my understanding win 8 goes all wacko with fps.. some people claim 50fps improvment compared to win 7( bullshit exaggeration) and some claim lower fps than win7. Hard to tell tbh.

But on Planetside 2 my 5850 outperforms the 7950 on same settings.

The 6850 i think matches the 7950 on bf4 on high. Are you on ultra settings getting those fps then?

Yes i am on ultra. Never lags for me. Maybe your card is faulty since it seems to be way underperforming in more than just one game?

Yes i think so. I need to test it on the intel rig to be sure which i will get round to doing. Whats your pc spec and which 7950 do you have?

MSI twin frozr 3 clocked at 1015mhz and 1300mhz on the memory. Doesn't need a big overclock so i keep it modest.

I have a 3570k running at 3.6ghz. 8gb ram running at 1600mhz. Really not much tbh.

I find BF4 to be wildly inconsistent i have just come off bf4 (EA has just kicked everyone off for updates) and i was running around 100-70fps on ultra/no msaa/no motion blur but the game before that i was geting 30-50fps for no reason some maps and game modes just tank my system and some dont even push it.
BF4 is just a buggy beta test at the moment when the game first come out i was geting MUCH better fps and game play.
(its not like my card is underperforming)
