7800GTX 512 to be rare.

If there was a genuine reason for the limited quantity then fair enough - but to hold them back for a marketing stunt.. Its a clever ploy on Nvidia's behalf but will it turn around to bite them on the ****. Possibly.

Indeed. I was actually considering the 512MB version as it would work well with my 3DCAD :(

Nevermind, what has happened to the Ultra - Do they plan on releasing one?

As long as it doesn't make them impossibly difficult to get hold of. Does anybody know of retailers who will be stocking these?

This is it. They just renamed it so they could hide it and say "there is no ultra" earlier in the year.

Eh, That's a bit boring - will they be releasing different clock speeds of this model?

Any idea what the release after this will be?

I think clock speeds may vary slightly (BFG and XFX always like to release slightly faster ones). No idea what's next but I think they'll stick with this for a few months at least.

it is a dirty trick but to be honest i am glade

i have changed cards to often and as yet have not draged all the performance out of my vmod gtx yet so will wait till after ati's 580 in jan

and see what nvidia bring out then

thats a lot. eek. Interesting that they say they have them in stock. I didn't think they had been released yet.

Video card prices are getting silly now. These will be 500quid, that takes the mick.

I still don't think that's enough to stop sales being good. I personally probably won't buy any though.

EDIT: And also Mav Grov's language was fine - stop provoking him. Glad you corrected his spelling though. ;)

I don't think it's too high to stop them selling well. Personally I don't think I'll be getting any though (unless they turn out to be amazing).

How bloody much!!I think i will wait until Jan

Which they will and they are - you only have to look at how I managed to blitz all (non-cascade/Dri Ice cooled) rigs in current benchmarks just by pushing the bandwidth up toward 1600Mhz :) :p

Yes but don't forget their competitor's b/w goes up to near 2Ghz.

Yes you are right they do - but the GTX 512MB starts at 1785Mhz RAM at stock and is even higher quality ram

So is 2ghz on water possible?

I should really do some single card testing 256MB GTX in 05 to see if I can beat Sampsa's 05 score with a supercooled X1800XT after all, he only managed just over 12k, should be easy :p

Bet Dazboots has already brought 4

Me old pal,

Don't think we're gonna be able to wait til January - especially if they are in short supply - remember the probs you had in January getting SLI kit? I don't think I could take the risk.
