7800 in AGP??

Recent leak of an AGP 7800GS card was covered up by saying these were engineering samples for internal circulation.

It's possible that the 7800GS will indeed come out as a card (recent reports elsewhere not withstanding) and that the card will be AGP compliant. Though PCIe has been fairly successful thus far, NVIDIA still has a significant AGP market to cover, which it needs to do to justify as much profits as possible.

Good news for those still happy with what they have now.

I heard about this also, who was it that was after a board for his dothan and the only good one was one with agp - good news for him anyway. Might have been stocky...

Sounds pretty good, would help keep the recent increase in used AGP cards down.

Any ideas how these will likely fair in comparison with the GT/GTX etc

Indeed! Could prove useful :D

Although, I have a feeling that AGP is becoming obsolete; so moving on sooner could be better than later...

I have read that it is wrong for it to become obsolete so early, due to the graphics technology still not fully ultilising the AGP port to its maximum capability. This is confirmed by the fact that the 7800 can (maybe!) still be used on the AGP port...

I think once 512mb cards become the norm the agp slot will start to show its limitations.
