hi, i am about to buy a gtx770, i really like the gainward phantom cooler, ( a lot)
does anyone have anything bad to say about it?

i know it takes up 3 slots, but i have the space for it, so no worries ther,

prob gonna get the 2gb as i game at 1920x1200 and have no plans at all of changing the screen or going sli.

Its a solid cooler, according to many reviews. Do note, that a few modern games benefit from more vram than 2gb, even at 1920x1200.

enough to spend £280 instead of £240 tho?

i am already getting a massive boost in gpu powa from my 2gb 7870

That's really up to you. I haven't had the chance to test it myself, but I know watch dogs uses alot of vram. Head over to the watch dogs thread for peoples thoughts.

i was reading up on this this morning, the game is a bit broken at the min, and i know that in coming years more vram will be of use, but at my res is it really needed?
it would be interesting if anyone on here has experiance of running both 2 and 4gb, on a single screen,

In Bf4 i max out my 3GB vram within minutes not even at max settings at 1080p with mantle enabled or without. Its the newest game i own but from what i can tell memory usage in modern games is skyrocketing. Its worth getting more if possible.

I should also add that I made the jump from a 7870 (XFX) to a 280x. Its a nice performance increase and you definitely notice the extra grunt.

You should probably consider a 280x as well...

i have only ever had amd cards, i want to give team green a go, not based on anything other than that.
i know that ya should buy whatever is best bang for the buck, but like i said, i want a change

i have bought the 2gb phantom now, just waiting on postie,

Can't argue with that, I'm giving Nvidia another go as I've been with AMD for a while.

found this out last night, worth a read,
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/gtx-770-4gb-vs-2gb-tested/3/

spoiler alert** i wont be buying the 4gb

Its not supposed to be faster.. It just has an extra 2Gb of vram. Its still the same core.

That's a good choice as it performs near the 770, and has 3gb of vram.

280x is just as fast a 770. They come down to games played but generally from what i have seen 280x wins even if it is the smallest increase.. plus they can OC like crazy. Even with performance about equal its still cheaper. Mine as well get it.
