so anyone else keep getting these 7611 WU's? i seem to keep getting them and they keep rocking out the big 5k ppd
they are absoutly killing my total ppd atm.... i dunno what to do about it. 3700 points for a WU that takes 12 hours to do on my cpu

Yes about 3 weeks ago I got 5 straight days of 7611 on every SMP client(9 machines at the time for me). Pretty much half the PPD of the other common one at the time which was 8013. One of the concerns others had about our folding competition, if you got 7611 all month you'd be in a world of hurt. I think personally I went from 90,000PPD to 60,000 during that 5 day period.(Thank goodness for some GPU's) If you are bored search some threads about 76xx WU's(Thats what I did to pass the time haha) and when the new 8000 came out on the folding forum. Pretty ridiculous when you read all the posts. Normal variation is 10 or 15% blah blah, reference computer is an i5 what is your hardware specs blah blah, different setups get different speeds blah blah. To be honest it was extremely frustrating to read. I'd love to stand over the shoulder as they run an 8013, and a 7611 on said i5 machine and then have that scientific mind turn to me and say yep that's normal and quite logical. Personally I think it reflects poorly on a scientific group to have such large spreads of errors.

Anyway. Just fight through it. You can't do anything about it. You will get a different work unit at some point in time. It's all for science the points are just a side effect to keep us entertained. Plus I think it all balances out in the end. Example being that 8046(? can't remember), in the last few weeks. Gave twice the PPD until it was adjusted, you chew through a few of those and it offsets the 7611. I'm with you it's bad, but keep the eye on the prize. :)

Been on a bad string of WUs too. My 930 usually sits around 20k or so, it's been getting less than 5k PPD. Some people will delete the bad WUs until they get a better one, but it's all for the science so I'll crunch them. It's a little frustrating, but nothing we can really do. Dumping WUs isn't a good thing IMO.

i have had a 7646 running on my computer for the last week, i do only have a Q6600 processor, but this is taking the piss, still saying ETA 2.66 days, that was my first ever fold, i then installed the software on my wifes i5 and she has completed nearly 16 WU since me starting this one but she has just got a 7610 and thats going to take 1.9 days to complete that one :S

But as above poster has put will just eat it on out
