Cheers guys. I'm just waiting for Win7 to go RTM so i can dual boot it with that not tbh. OSX is great for casual use on the train and stuff like that, but for any serious work it does get a bit frustrating at times.

Push to click thing is actually quite nice as are the gestures. It takes about the same amount of force as a normal laptop button to press down and is most responsive towards the bottom of the pad (where my thumb naturally goes anyway).

The only thing you have to be aware of is keeping only one finger on the touchpad when you are moving around the screen. If a stray finger or thumb makes it on to the pad you end up making things big/small and rotating stuff lol.

I need to get my self one for college next year, and tbh, they are by far the nicest lappys out there.

Would you say a standard laptop/netbook would be a far better investment, or does the macbook justify its cost?

Hmm its hard to say. Take away OSX and the aluminium casing and you have little more than a standard notebook. In fact you probably have less considering the macbook only has 2x USB ports, no DSUB output, poor speakers, a fairly low quality webcam and no card reader.

But if none of that matters to you and you're looking for a laptop with the best build quality and looks that money can buy along with the option to run both OSX and Windows if you want to, then get one without hesitation

As a side note, one thing that really impresses me about the macbook is how quiet it is and how cool it runs.

Thats what sealed the deal for me. Normal laptops are so plasticy and tacky (unless you spend a fortune on a top-end Vaio) and things like the trackpad and palmrest show signs of wear within a few months.

i think i may set myself the challenge of finding a contender for cheaper too

Since you went and bought the mac u might aswell do a full review on it as some people are interested in how it performs. As for me I have owned one, but it gets annoying at times when you want to do real work as you pointed out.

It's easy to say that, but reviews dont just take a few minutes, and doing a full review like that would probably take about a week..

Since it's not a review item, I wouldn't hold your breath on a review.
