Just picked up a 6990 - and getting "low scores" on Unigene // 3DM11 compared to reviews, and because my CPU isnt overclocked at all (stock) am simply woundering wether its just a case of CPU bottleneck for the benchmarks?

3DMark11: P7236

Unigine: FPS: 67.8

4x AA 16x AF tes: norm 1680x1050

Thanks,

Dont forget this benchmark heavily favours Nvidia cards

Are you using unigene 2.5 that was just released? which supports the new cards and optimizes the older ones.

Did you update 3dmark 11, which does the same the the unigene does.

An overclocked 1090 only gives you a small frame boost compared to stock. The overclock will make most difference to minimum frame rates and overal smoothness (less stutters) rather than avg rates. And if a hexcore is causing you a bottleneck there isn't really much you can do about it, not exactly ancient technology are they?

I ran heaven today and got a 1505 then i put game booster 2.3 on and ran it again got 2340.Bottleneck caused by windows 7 i guess with all them services running in the background. Over clocked FSB to 240 i got better results so it is my opinion many things can cause a bottleneck. Also HDD speed can affect your score dont know why maybe the benchmark program run faster on a better hdd speed because program located there.Just doing lab work today LOL

I doubt its much of a bottleneck as some think. After all its a quad core cpu. More likely culprit is the mobo and ram. As its older DDR2 and older chipset. But you might get some better performance from the gpu if ya oc'd it a bit and tweaked ur settings.

by it I am meaning the cpu and memory
