Hey, I just started crysis warhead for the first time and I am getting 20-30 fps on enthusiast 8aa and so far it can get laggy, I am only in the beginning of the game. I don't know if that is normal for my set up.

I am using 10.10e hotfix and I wanted to know what ccc or msi afterburner settings can I use to gain fps. Amd says 10.12 will imrpove 6870 but don't know when it will be out. Sorry if this has been asked before, I searched

I'm going to assume that's what it'll be like for 6870's. Seeing as at 1920x1200 0xAA and Gamer settings Crossfire 6870's were getting 70fps in a review Tom did here recently. Must be they don't like the Enthusiast settings and the addition of 8xAA you've put on

With respect to overclocking, the easiest thing to do would be to just click "Auto-tune" in Catalyst, though this will not get you the best overclock, but a good improvement especially if you're not used to overclocking anyway. Obviously if you want to go further you can either enter values yourself for Core clock and Memory in Catalyst or Afterburner if you feel the need.

I'm not going to go into the why and hows but get it down to 4X. After 4X it makes hardly any difference (You shouldn't be able to tell the difference) and drops the frames by massive amounts.

You need to remember that FSAA is really a fancy name for blur. So the higher you take it the more likely it is to give you a rotten headache.

Oh, and Crysis games are usually ATI haters aswell, especially ATI Crossfire. You need to remember that Crysis (and Warhead which is a tidied cut down version of the Crysis engine) were written for Nvidia cards. You'll notice in Warhead how few enemies there are on scene at once compared to Crysis.

Thank for the answers. btw in gpu-z one of my 6870s the clock speed is only 300 mhz, does that increase by demand?

yer they are the 2d clocks

In Crossfire the second card will downclock as low as ATI instruct it to from the driver. When in my desktop my second 5770 used to downclock to around 150mhz. It's to save power.

ED. To make sure they upclock you can either run a monitor (if AB does this cool) or, drag the CCC to another monitor and fire up a game.

thank you again
