hello, just putting together my computer, got a problem - its a BFG 680i mobo but it just flashes up with the error code "25", in the manual it says this is the "shadow/VBIOS" any ideas how to get it working?

The other components are:

E5200

8800GT - ASUS

Corsair 2GB RAM PC2-6400

OCZ 500W stealth xtreme

Thanks,

Tomd

Error Code

Sorry do not know that individual mobo but have u tried the usual, clear the cmos, remove the battery for a few mins and then replace.

Also take off any hardware u dont need and just leave the bare basics. ie 1 stick of RAM, gcard, cpu and see if that boots.

When you boot the board do u get any output to the monitor? or any post beeps?

Any help you can give us will help us to help you :)

Hi,

I've tried booting with one stick of RAM etc, however now I've changed the GPU and which PCI-E slot it's in and now i'm getting a different error code - 7F - in manual it says "POST error check Check POST error and display them and ask for

user intervention". Not sure what this means though!

Any ideas?

Thanks,

tomd

Sorry if these sound like suck eggs questions but hopefully we can find wot the issue is.

I should imagine the error code meaning is that it requires some kinda user intervention or setting change. Not sure if you have already mentioned it but do u get any out put to the screen or any post beeps?

yes,i got one post beep

its a long beep, and there isnt any output to the monitor

A long beep from what I can find seems to point to a memory issue (I think this is an nvidia bios)

Have u tried a known working stick of RAM and then try booting?

mate, having had a board similar to this, is a green pcb with a small black heatsink in the middle? if so you may want to open up the cpu catch and make sure no pins are bent, as this was a manufacturing fault with this particular board, think it was called XFX 680i LT. BFG had the same board rebranded mate, nvidia reference design on this one

hi, its worked before with this mother board and i havent moved the cpu

Mine worked to mate for about a week, then died, when it was RMA'd i was told i had bent a pin, but then how could it have worked? Get what i mean. Just something to check as a last resort ;D

Also found this quote from someone with very similar issues, he too had error 7f then error 25 show:

Thanks for your input all.

I have the just about the entire original system installed and running and have suffered only one random crash. I had seen the voltage issue with the ram and have not corrected it yet but will do so to see if it prevents any more crashes.

Got the system running, however, with the default memory settings.

I think there were three problems: had to use an older video card to start, had to have the PWR3 connected to the power supply even though not running SLI, and HAD to have a USB keyboard and mouse.

With this in place and a floppy connected, I was able to update the bios with a floppy disc. Everything else flowed from there. Put in two sticks memory, raid 0 and striped array on the two raptors, installed windows xp, using my 8800 ultra and have been playing Bioshock just fine. Need to install the zalman and do some tests but so far doin ok.

Its definately worth checking the pins on the CPU as this can cause strange issues but if u have not moved the cpu for a while its not likely. I would try the above as well as if this is an old bios version then there maybe a few issues linked to that. Searching around I also found a few issues on error 25 code relating to corsair memory, not sure what make you have.

From what I have read the bios over volts corsair memory. You may need to try a stick of non corsair memory, flash bios to the latest then try the corsair, and hopefully that will work.

If it still doesnt, use the generic memory to boot into the bios and set the RAM voltage manually.

Let us know how u get on :)
