64GB SSD Problems.

I have this SSD and its supposed to be 64GB (SanDisk)

Its coming up as 54.89GB with a 4.73GB system reserve.

Why is the system reserve so large? Should it not be a couple of hundred MB? Also, I can't use it for anything, which is strange too.

Another problem I have is that it says that I have 1.93GB left (it jumps up and down between 6.32GB and just a couple of hundred MB when it feels like it) but when I check how much I have actually used, it says 43.7GB. (See picture)

am I best of partitioning it and putting a fresh copy of windows on or is there a way I can fix it?

Thanks in advance,

ollie,
welcome to the OC3D forums..

tbh, you need a larger drive or move less non-critical appz to another drive and
leave the OS to its own.

This “stub” of a partition, which is new in Windows 7, serves two functions.
First, it holds the Boot Manager code and the Boot Configuration Database.
Second, it reserves space for the startup files required by the BitLocker Drive
Encryption feature. If you ever decide to encrypt your system drive using
BitLocker, you won’t have to repartition your system drive to make it possible.

there are ways to not get it in the first, but that'' take some doing and its easiest
to use MS for this: Understand (and Get Rid of) the Mysterious Small Partition

good luck...
