5870 Available

Not bad prices, thats why they have none in stock anymore! Sold out this morning. look at the prices at Scan, around 20-40 more on all cards :(

I would expect those prices to drop a little in the coming few weeks. At £300, it's not a particularly bad buy but it isn't boasting the same value for money as previously expected. I would like to see some focus on the HD 5850 actually as it's £100 cheaper for reduced clocks and slightly less shaders. Our brief tests showed the 5870 taking out the GTX 285 but what if the HD 5850 can keep up or even beat it for less?

The prices are bound to be hiked on initial release. Or atleast, as with nVidia, they would build up expectation, flood u with unbelievable benchmarks, jack up the price, then sell out on release.

Couple of weeks later they tack off £40 or so.

One thing u won't see tho are tales of AMD slashing prices in fear of nVidia's forth-coming cards. When it's nVidia cutting prices after release (which they've always done), they're mysteriously on the run and making cuts to boost sales.

mega clocking?

Looking forward to the Sapphire 5890 Vapor-X 1024MB when its released, that will be my next card I think. :)

It should be considered also, thinking of games to-be released in the future maybe, that afaic:

xx50 - mid range

xx70 - mid to high

xx90 - high to extreme

xxxx x2 - extreme to speculative, depending on title.

Just bear in mind that buying an xx50 card today that plays games from the last year or b4 really well, won't necessarily stand up well to Crysis4: Death Of The Vga.

True. But considering that Crytek have yet to make a good game, who would care??

Far Cry. Brilliant premise, fantastic scenery. Halfway it became a grey corridor game, the AI took a million bullets and degenerated into mutant guff.

Crysis. Brilliant premise, fantastic scenery. Halfway it became a white icy game, the AI took a million bullets and it degenerated into alien guff.

So, personally, they might as well just release a benchmark based tech demo and be done with it.

I just figured <insert random game coming out> was a bit long.

Whether it's crappy, but used as a pinnacle by a massive amount of people is neither here nor there.

CoD6: Random Title 4TW, would have done.
