Hey everybody,

My friend is going to get a new computer soon and i TRIED to put a list together but i couldnt keep it under 500 - 550 euro's (only 400 - 450 for parts cause he needs windows 7 too)

and i was wondering if u guys could come up with something , he wants to play games like , Minecraft all the way up (Graphics wise) to skyrim so i was thinking about a 550Ti to begin with.

It will be helpful to say where you're buying the parts, what parts you need, and what parts you already have. Not being offensive, but I think it would make it easier to help you ^^.

Without any further info, here are some things to think about:

- Sandybridge Pentiums are pretty much i3s without hyperthreading (and almost half the price).

- Amd Phenom II or FX aren't bad budget choices, especially because am3+ boards are so cheap.

- In the UK anyway, a HD 6850 can be had for around the same as a 550ti, and ofc the 6850 will be better. See what the prices are like from where you are.

Just realised that you said Euro not Pounds.

Sorry for the confusion. You can probably get similar hardware for under 500 Euro.

Thanks people , im not buying it on a particular website i'm just looking for the part numbers and such

This is what i came up with , i talked to the guy and he said that he wasnt going to play skyrim , but left for dead:

AMD A8 3870K (AMD Radeon HD6550D intergrated graphics)

ASRock A55iCafe S/ FM1 motherboard

Seagate 2TB harddisk (Cause i never want him to run out of storage space

8GB Kingston HyperX 1333 (2 sticks)

or should i dump the intergrated graphics and go with an actual video card?

I would say leave out on the integrated graphics, put it towards a graphics card...

And to be honest, for a casual gamer / pc user 2TB is slightly over kill, 1TB is more than enough even if it only shows as 950GB or something...

But then it is only around 10 - 20 quid more for double the storage so it is a bit of a mind player!

I don't live in the UK, but here (Canada) a 7770 is 10 dollars more expensive then a 6850 and it should perform better. So if the pricing is similar in the UK i might go with that.

If he is just going to use the rig for gaming then a 500gb hard drive should be more than adequate. Also the FX-4100 would be a much better processor than the A8 3870K.

Hope this was helpful.

technically, you can get an am3 board that is am3+ compatible for 35 euros

FX-4100 ~91 euros

cheapest decent brand 1600mhz cas9 dual channel 8gb ram ~40 euros

hd 7850 ~220 euros OR hd 6850 ~110

windows 7 home premium 64-bit (because you have 8gb ram) ~85 euros

leaving you ~80 to ~190 euros for a hdd.

cheapest ones i could find including P&P, but at the same time none of these are deals, they're just regular prices. if you're lucky there might even be some deals floating around. also these are UK prices, so you have to check what it's like where you are. also, if you decide to go for the 6850, i'd suggest the first place to invest a little more money is the mobo (get a real am3+ board).

hope it helps!

i basically assumed all the parts he needed were the ones he'd tried to pick already. if he needs a psu then you're right, 190 should cover it. 6850 is a pretty good card too!

btw case in point about deals daxehh, the fx 4100 just dropped about 15 gbp on aria, making it the cheapest in the uk afaik, at 87 euros (shame you guys aren't from here!). by amazing coincidence, the announcement's just come up on this very forum. you can always find some deals if you're willing to wait a little. but totally up to your friend anyway

Thanks for all your replies , probably going for a 7770 and an Fx 4100 how much watts should this system need? I really dont know much about power supplies... Thanks again!

ah, so you need a psu too! try the thermaltake/extreme psu calculator. and get a properly branded one, even if you get a budget psu, like antec or corsair or something like that.

i would suggest getting an amd llano processor. in skyrim it has the power to run skyrim in ultra settings fairly well. and cheaper than a decent processor and a decent graphics card. hope this helped.r

I think this is it:

1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD

4 GB (2x2) corsair 1600mhz DDR3

Windows, a case fan, an optical drive and a case

MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) am3+ motherboard

An FX-4100 4x3600Mhz CPU

Sharkoon WPM600 Watt (80% efficiency)

And then an MSI 440 GT

In total €520 + €55 if he wants the shop to put it together (cause of warranty)

Does that look good?

Any Thoughts on the motherboard, videocard or powersupply?

Does that motherboard take 1600mhz ram?

Most cases come with one or two case fans so you might not need extras.

Maybe go with a 7750 instead of the 440, it's only a little bit more expensive and it will preform a lot better.

If he's using this rig for gaming he doesnt need 1 tb of hardrive space, 500 gb should be fine.

I wouldnt spend 10% of your budget on having it assembled either.

Hope this is helpful.

Yeah ill check if the mobo supports 1600 mhz ram and the 7750 is 97.50 euro's while 440 gt is only 55 euro's... aaand ill probably get a 500 - 750 GB hdd
tongue.png
the assembly is only because u dont get warranty on this website... Its not a big deal i guess
tongue.png

You still get the manufacturer warenty on the components, and i guess the 7750 is cheaper over here cause its only about 65-70 euros, even so if you dont get it assembled i would try to go for a better video card then a 440, even if it meens going a few euros over budget, it really just depends on what you're willing to spend.

Best of luck.

Just go with some 1333mhz ram... You won't notice any difference and it's probably cheaper. 4gb is more than enough.

Where exactly are you from? Prices can be very different depending on where you're shopping ^^

€55 euros for assembly is way to much

Amsterdam i'm using the alternate pc builder, google it
tongue.png
yeah i found 55€ alot of money for assembly and windows installing too...
