4930K @ 4.5GHz (1.46v) - is this safe for 24/7 use?

Hi,

unfortunately, it seems I got unlucky in the silicon lottery on this chip :(

as the title says, would I be okay running this chip 24/7 at this voltage?

Temps are fine, considering I'm running it on a H100i in push/pull (SP120 Performance editions).

Tried the chip in a different X79 board and achieved the exact same result, so it's definitely the silicon holding me back.

If the temps are fine, then the CPU is fine, right? I've heard that under 1.47v is safe, so you are fine. What are the temps, by the way?

Disclaimer: I have no first hand experience with this, so do not just take my word for it :P

~ 33-35 idle
~ 75-80 load (Only really see IBT make it plummet)

Getting my temps from Realtemp

Considering the H105, but I don't think it'd make much difference.

So what are you doing 24/7? Folding? Mining? Or just idle?

Coicidentally, I left Folding@Home running last night whilst I slept. Didn't wake up to flames, fortunately

I rarely turn my system off for no reason at all, it's just a habit of mine. The most load the CPU gets on it is from BF4, none of my software applications even touch it.

Other than that, if I'm away, it just sits idle, with the monitor off until I return to it (unless someone is sneaking into my home when I'm away).

I would seriously look at reducing the volts and the overclock a bit, I would not run 1.46v 24/7 even on a custom waterloop.

Try running your CPU @4.2 or 4.3 and see if you can get the volts down a bit.

Max i would run any newer intel CPU for 24/7 would be 1.25ish.. Volts kill CPU quickly and 4.5ghz at 1.46volts is not very good silicon tbh

It will degrade over time, even Orca did only running 1.34v (Im at 1.4 now)

So just keep it in mind that things will settle and need tweaking.
