I would like to ask this to TinyTomLogan or other pros out there.

I have got 950 Chip on Sabertooth x58. Foolishly i fell for Noctua NHP-12 instead of NHD-14( 950 + CPU cooler combo deal). Now is it possible to get the chip OC to 4 Ghz and also stay within the safe temps zone? I have it running at 3.8 Ghz with 200 x 19. Vcore at 1.26 and QPI at 1.3. IBT stretches the temps to around 78*c with 20 Standard runs. I have also able to run PRIME95 overnight without any errors.

Cheers,

if your getting 78c i wouldnt advise going any higher, personaly id drop it down a touch aswell.

I can drop it down to 3.6 but i think NHP-12 should be able to handle 3.8 GhzOC.

Now i have heard some pros saying that the temps low 80's to mid 80's are ok when testing with IBT/LinX or Prime95.

My maximum Load temps does not go above 66- 68'c. I do not game, but mostly do photo/video editing on my rig. Thats one other reason i cannot disable H/T, it could have have given me extra 10'c to play with.

So no other way except to upgrade my CPU cooler??
