Hi Guys

Have been checking the forums looking for an answer I think I have found it but not 100% a little help is needed

I have currently overclocked my 2600k to 4.2 with a voltage of 1.32 the mobo I am using is Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3P.

I haven't had any issues so far but I want to push for 4.5GHZ would changing the vcore to a lower voltage help the mobo currently has it set to Auto I only changed the multiplayer to 42 x 100 not tweaked anything else yet!!

Sorry if this has been answered previously any help would be greatful.

I changed the clock speed and changed the vcore to 1.340 it loaded fine I went to burn a dvd and opened real temp and had cpu-z open and I got a blue screen off death the vcore was 1.296 even though I set it at 1.340 but it was showing in the bios 1.360 so I loaded back into the bios and went back to 4.2 would keep the vcore at auto or did I do something wrong??

I believe you should push the volts a little bit more because if you remember TTL on his review needed 1.5 volts for 5ghz !! I think that 1.34 is a low voltage for 4.5 ...but you should try more settings alone !!

The lower voltage is Vdroop. You need to enable LLC

jesus christ I stop posting for a few months and you are ALL handing our shit advise.

Dear god alive. More volts doesnt fix everything. and the 5GHz I was running was 24/7 stable FFS.

1.4v is an absolute max and you may still need to tweak loads of other volts....

shit the bed Ive written this out so many times Im fooking bored of it.

I'm going to stick with 4.2 as it does what I need for the time being I would go above 1.4 anyway max would be 1.38 but due to not wanting to fry my chip I'll stick with what works

Thanks for the advice.

BUMP*

What sort of temps, at stock, should an i7 2600k get on a Noctua NH-D14.

I seem to get 39-42 degrees C at idle, i'm at stock clock of 1.6Ghz for idle and 3.8GHz for "turbo" (google chrome with 2 tabs), this seems way too high for this cooler.
