A 3Dmark score of a Radeon HD 6800-series card has been released.

With just under 12.000 points it scores 30% better than a HD 5870, and also crushes the GTX 480.

There's no direct indication that the screenshot is fake.

The screensho also shows the Device ID "6718", which makes it, according to the leaked codenames in the Catalyst 10.8 release, a "Cayman XT" chip.

Ofcourse nobody knows for sure whether it's fake or not, but it looks to be real!

Pretty soon I think. I'm sure I read somewhere that they will have the 5xxx series replaced by the 6xxx series by the end of next year.

I think what they did was smart really, they released the 5xxx series cards which were fast, and well priced, but couldn't really take hold of the features of DX11 that well (tesselation mainly) but they knew that it would take a year or two for games to really start using it. So they released it knowing it would be a while until the cards would need to be improved, and having the 5xxx series out there would give them plenty of feedback on what needs to be improved. Whereas Nvidia just tried to get it right at first in their labs, but by that time ATi had a hold of the market because they were there first.

It was simply a demand thing, even though a 295 was almost as fast as the 5870 people still bought the newer card because they were actually being produced. Nvidia missed a trick not producing more 2xx cards and driving the price down a little.

Hmmm, I only just got a 5870! Although hopefully getting a second one soon, which will more than make up for it. The only problem here is that there still havent been price drops even though there is the possibility of newer, faster, better cards!

Looks promising, but still can't fold for shit.

Probably a good thing ATI don't care for origami really.

You'll find that graphics cards are primarily designed to be good at what they sell for - gaming.

It would be endlessly stupid to think that by making your card fold better that it would boost sales heavily.

Hope it's cheap cos the Sapphire Toxic annihilates it.

Is that the 5970 Toxic? If so it would, the new ones are single GPU aren't they?

This 6 series is purely to get back the most powerful single GPU title IMO.
