CM storm trooper case

ok well for some reason when i run wprime all my cores are holding off at the 70c mark witch is perfect cuz i have it set at balanced but i always have the 6th core is always like 5c hotter then the rest.

im pretty sure this means that core is slightly defective and is it possible to just turn off one core? make it 5 cores 10 threads? dosen't mean ill do that but always wondered if it was possible.

From other users is this a common thing?

Doh i dont really use really really intensive cpu applications and games rarely get hotter then 63-65 and like 67 for the 6th.

Thanks

Doh i have to say... room temp is always like 24-25.

And thanks S_I_N also is it possible to turn off only one core? just for fun no way id do that but just for fun XD

I havent played with a 2011 yet so I dont know the bios but in the past theres been options to do that.

Seems fairly normal. My 3930k first core does just that usually, about 2/3c.

Could be the TIM application. Sure I remember Tom suggesting spreading the paste on the 2011 chips. Should re-do mine and see if it makes a difference.

As for the switching cores off, my UD5 will let you turn down the number of cores active, but not select which ones.

Edit: Current temps across the cores are 61 58 57 54 55 56 at 20.3 ambient, under a D14 at 4.2/1.355v, folding and watching the 300R review.

Reckon it's just uneven thermal paste application, having 1-2 degrees C difference is perfectly normal

Thats nice to know but i used the pre applied thermal paste from the h100 and from what i see its a pretty good paste and it applies well, kinda like the spread method.

And also the 3930k architecture has its cores centered in the middle so even if the sides are not completely covered it dosent matter because the cores are in the middle.

Anyways thanks guys for your input XD

PS : Sweet vid u linked ty
