3570k vs 8350 please

If some one at OC3D could find the time to install Windows 8 and run these against each other it would be great.

I'm seeing more and more people making bold claims stating that the 8350 is now just as good in gaming so I think a comparison review with stats would be very well received right now.

Check youtube, there is a well know squeeky voiced canadian who has done exactly what you want..

Tom posted on facebook: "All AMD system anyone? 8350 with a 7970? Could be good to see what the FPS are like with the newer drivers.....?"
Surely you could then compare scores?
Cheers :)

well there's pretty much everything in there
what exactly do you expect us to do better?

Do you write for OC3D now then?

I watched the Linus video and paid close attention to the scores. There was one or two times where the 8350 came out ahead and barely, maybe 5 FPS. When it did lose though it lost in Titanic fashion.

So I'd like to see some one like Tom or Bryan put the two together and run some benchmarks.

Basically if a miracle has happened and the 8350 all of a sudden competes with the 3570k I would rather see it tested here. Not that I don't trust anywhere else but just that I would rather see it done by some one I am familiar with.

I think he might have understood the following statement to not merely be directed at OC3D staff but the forum community in general, as did I at first tbh (not that that's a bad thing, just pointing this out):

Anyway:

Basically if a miracle has happened and the 8350 all of a sudden competes with the 3570k I would rather see it tested here.

As far as I understand, it's not necessarily whether or not the 8350 is superior or almost identical in performance but more about the question of whether or not it's a viable, albeit measurably slower, alternative in practice considering its price.

If it comes close, great, if it doesn't, the question is more: "Is it still playable and if so how well?" than "By how much did it lose?"

Anyway, that's just my take on the situation, nobody ever really stated this of course (or I missed it  ). If anyone did the requested benches though I'd still be interested in the results.

Don't know if you noticed but he put older single threaded games in there on purpose and included heavy threaded games in there as well.. His conclusion multiple times has been for heavy threaded games the FX comes on top.

Also lets be honest here, Ivy Bridge is the absolute most garbage chip for us enthusiast / overclockers due to the paste. We already know our overclocks before we buy the chip..

It's only good if you have the balls and the wallet to de lid.

edit

btw Rumor is AMD will be offering Never Settle for purchases of FX CPU's, As well as a new Never Settle bundle in fall Which will include Battlefield 4 and another unannounced game.

I agree Tom should do it and gather free shit from AMD to be there poster boy, Maybe try out the new Sabertooth xD. Give Logan his props for opening up a can and let him reap the rewards, We'll deserved ;)

In all fairness I've not seen any one get much more out of their 3570k after delidding. Sure, temps were much better but no one seemed to try and push it any harder.

For all that faff you'd expect a bit more to come out of it but every one seems to stick at around 4.5ghz any way.
