£300, spend on MB, Chip and ram.

i think green and white would look better than gold and white dude, i think gold a red would look ace in that too.

ill have a play around with colours once its all here and may have to change the window sticker to match it all up. How ever my case most likely will not stay the same as i might get some thing a bit better.

SSD's was looking around were can i get good Raid SSD's from and which ones, Probs looking along the lines of 3 x 40 to 60 GB in stripped. Ive got 8Tbs of storage space so they would mainly be used for gaming and windows.

Tbh ssd isn't something I'm well up on but I know you need to get the right ones for raid as not all have the trash collection thing and you lose trim with raid.

I would post in that section about it as others will be able to explain it better than I

yeh i know about the trim and raid on the SSD's all that does it stops it from writing over the same part of the memory if i remember , but to be honest with a 3 year warranty on most SSd's it would not phase me in the least. How ever if there are SSD's designed for raid then id go for that. Who really wants a 40gb in reality its no good for bugger all except for raid array.

the Asus Sabertooth X58 Socket 1366 8 Channel HD Audio ATX Motherboard and ram arrived this morning. Quick delivery.

One thing ive noticed .... were are all my usb, fire wire headers and all the nice bits and bobs you used to get with MB's ... the cheap ass gits (asus) don't give you any thing. This is bad if this is the first ever PC your building because you'll have to purchase all these extras at some over priced store some ware. If asus has put them in it would have only been a few extra pence on the price of the board as they have massive buying power

Anyway ram , cpu , mb ordered on Friday night late (ebuyer) arrived Monday morning with free delivery

. Good service as normal.

I think its because most case have the blocks on them now and they only need to give you a block for the buttons and led.

to be honest you don't anywhere near what 1/2 these boards need and if they supplied you with them it would be more economical , btw im not thinking of me here but some one whose doing a first build.

there is to much penny pinching in this industry as a whole and this is from the basic makers of basic products right upto the top of the range products.

Grr mind speaking out aloud .... NO bloody IDE on the board, ill have to get a new dvd-rom drive.

its good to read mate, shows others thinking of buying kit what real people find out as they build. had the same issue with a mates p67 as it has no ide too.

intel is trying to kill of the older stuff, wont be long and pci will follow suit too

Intell been doing that for years and this doesn't have a PCI slot neither, Pmsl.. this is going to be fun having to change my plans as i go along how ever not a problem adapt and over come (old army phrase) ....

Oh man, that res looks AMAZING! I think it works nicely with both colours, almost like a "poison" concoction.

Just nipped out picked up a Sata BD-rom RW for £38.00 for our local PC world. Not a bad by.

Did a very fast bench test, All 12gb of ram picked up. Ran though Mem test no problems. Sata options working fine, CPU over clocked to 4.2 Gh just on the intel standard fan and HS lol. Ill add the water cooling and other bits and bobs once the hard SSD's have arrived.

Sata BD-rom RW for £38.00 from pc world ... that's what i call a bargin

retail box lg ch10 10x bd /dvdrw

mind you this upgrade has gone from £300 to £700+ so far and i haven't finished.

a lot of stuff is over priced in pcworld but for some stuff they are good tbh

they have been selling windows 7 and office cheaper in store than you could get it anywhere online for eg

wow 4.2ghz on the stock hs is good going, i cant wait to see what you get it to with some real cooling dude

Hopefully ill have it all ready by wednesday but will have to wait and see. Im just really waiting on some one for the Gpus once they get there's they will be sending them on. Ill put in a 8500 for the moment though for now.

All parts installed except for the Gpu's need to ask stph the eta on there the two SSds came this morning and ive stripped them in raid and installed windows on them.

Will take a pic later on.
