I'm thinking that 50lts isn't actually going to be enough between 3 people. More like 100lts for a weekend if we don't wade through it too much. This wil change a few things, cost wise and what options we have left.
The other issue is the 2nd hand dewars are not always available so most likey now since it's been 3 months they may not have any left, meaning we'll need to rent a 50lt one @ £50 p/month ex VAT on top of the quarterly LN2 supply costs.
LN2 was always going to be expensive but if we do split it between some of us, it's not too bad. Mansfield Cryogenics seems to be the cheapest. I know Dave (Blindfitter) uses them as does HiVizman from OCN (ex-BT).
My biggest concern is we need people who will commit to this. It's all well and good saying you can and you end up paying but 6 months down the line you drop out for legit reasons and it bares a bigger cost for the rest of us if we can't find a replacement guy to chip in. So if you are as serious as I am and need LN2 for benching 4x a month then let it be known!
The other alternative is that I've spoken with HiVizman and he is doing something very similar to us except that he is holding meetups for all UK Overclockers (irrespective of team) every 3 months or so where lots of LN2 will be available and accomodation sorted for the weekend at a small cost. This may be an easier option and better suited to other people so one to bare in mind. The next one is in Cambridge around March time but he or I will let you know more at a later date.
The above is a great option to have but it would also be good if we had our own private meetups with LN2 as well so if I can have a list of people who are 100% certain they want in, and I'll go back to the guys to see what they can do cost and supply wise.
