3 Benchers Needed or more.

Hi Guys,

Mini proposal so hear me out. I'm looking at the possibility at getting a regular LN2 supply. Paying £50 a go on 20KGs of DICE including VAT & Shipping is OK, but for around the same price we can have LN2 4x a month or more.

I'm making reference to the last business I spoke to about LN2. Basically I need ideally 3 or more committed benchers who are willing to jump on a account with me for LN2. Doing it myself is quite expensive, maybe not as expensive as BOC and other companies but it would be easier if some of us could chip in.

The company I spoke to can deliver LN2 to Manchester every 6 weeks currently which isn't too bad. Contracts are based on a 12 month'er and charged each quarter via D/D.

A contract with LN2 supply every 6 weeks is £370 ex VAT p/year. That's £111 inc. VAT each quarter. If say 3 people chip in, that's £37 inc VAT each from each party. This is based on supplying up to 50lts of LN2. That should be enough for a weekends fun between 2-3 people provided we're not all doing something insane lol.

6 weeks is approx what? - LN2 supply every 1 and a half months. I very much doubt we can meet up every month to bench to make use of it. So what I propose is we go for a 12 week delivery contract which will be 50lts of LN2 supplied approx every 3 months (4x a year). I'm pretty sure we can manage a weekend between 2+ more of us every 3 months right?

So if we go for that idea, LN2 supplied every 12 weeks will be £290 ex VAT p/year. That's £87 inc. VAT a quarter. 3 people chip in, that's £29 each for 50lts of LN2 every 3 months for our meet-up. Cheaper than DICE and a whole lot better.

However with the contract and LN2 supply out of the way. We have two options. Buy a 2nd hard refurb Dewar or rent one from the company each month. If we rent a 50lt Dewar, sadly it's going to cost £50 ex VAT a month which puts a sting in the works. However, they have 2nd hand Dewar' available. They are second hand but tested by their engineers and checked as operating effectively but they obviously can't maintain a warranty for them. They have 40lt ones available for £150 each. So the more cost effective option would be to buy one of these 2nd hand ones. Of course the initial upfront cost will be a bit more since we'd need to chip in for the 2nd hand Dewar but once this cost is out of the way, we can go for this 3 month supply for £29 each quarter (if split between 3 people).

I'm definatly up for this, but I need to know who else is interested, seriously. We can't really carry on use DICE sadly, while it's decent, we ideally need some LN2 if we want to push this team further. Plus it's a great way to introduce new members to extreme cooling if they fancy coming up for the meetup every 3 months. I'll of course order in some extra 20KG of DICE if we run out of LN2 too quickly at these meetups.

It would be a great way either way to get together for some benching weekends and learn from each other, and help where needed. I'm sure it will be a top laugh.. lots of hardware, LN2, beer and 24/7 webcam lol. What's the worst that could happen?

Sorry for the long post, but I need to know who's actually down for this.

Well you already know my answer after last nights chat

After scouring all our profiles last night, I have concluded that my next aim will be on 1156, as non of us bench it.

Could get me some nice points for the team.

I would be up for it but I'm down in London.

Bit of a mission and my weekends are currently my girlfriends.

Maybe in the future though.

i would be up for it dude but we are talking next year before i would be able to free up the funds tbh as xmas is fast approaching :|

So if me and Moose do this (that is if you really want to Moose?) then we just need one other person.

I'm thinking about starting from Jan next year.Sorry, I should of mentioned hat in the OP.

If we say we sort this is January, who is with me?

Depends what's best to everyone. Meet in the middle somewhere but it would be best if it was at someones house or shed as transporting it may be an issue.

If I do it, that's fine, but it will be a tight squeeze to get 2/3 more people in my spare room benching even if I clear all the crap out. I'm thinking 48hr bench marathon lol.

my shed is an option now (i will need to sweet talk her) but its not that big, its got about 2m of worktop space we could use but having more than 2 setups running at once would be a squeeze.
