2k or not 2k

Right guys I need your help deciding, to go 2k or to just stick with 1080p. I have been toying with the idea, of getting the gsync ROG swift and another 780 strix for when Bubo arrives. Now all in all its going to cost me about £1150, for both the monitor and the second 780 strix, is it worth the money? Or is it just epeen an bragging rights

All thoughts and opinions will be taken on board

thanks

my cousing had the 59hz 1440p monitor from asus and 2 780 ti's it's amazing to watch but the thing i miss the most is the refresh rate i'm used to my 144hz monitor and 60hz meh i see it way to much.
if you are willing to pay that much you'll have great fps and a really good gaming experience. It's like the difference between 720p and 1080p and if you go from 1080p 60hz to 1440p on 120hz you'll be surprised how much it changes :)

If you've got the spare cash I say what the hell!

My only thought is how long until the rest of the G-Sync monitors start showing up? I'd be pissed if i'd forked out for that crazy expensive monitor only for a cheaper just as good alternative to be released shortly after

*2.5k or not 2.5k? That should of been the question. What's half of 8k?...4k? Half of that...2k, aka 1080p.

Anyway its straight balling definitely go for it, I have no complaints about the ROG Swift or SLI 780's. Don't expect it to be locked on 144hz though when you start cranking the eye candy you can hold it back to 50-70fps at times although it still looks immense and smooth.

Well I would be getting the gpu first, then saving up over the next month or so to get the monitor. So if they're going to bring out another monitor, I still have a little time to make my mind up which one I opt for. I need to get the strix 780 now though, as I can't find them anywhere else an they have stopped making them

I have the swift and 2x 780s. Its pricey but I find its worth every penny at the moment. Picture quality for a TN panel is fantastic. G sync does have a few very minor issues that pop up now and then but easily corrected.

What are the few issues if you don't mind me asking? Also what are your frame rates an settings averages?

i know but if you can see the difference between 120hz and 144hz you're a pro :d

i like the high refresh rate, but with that monitor i am more interested in the gsync an 2k aspect of it ^_^. anyway i already pulled the trigger on another Strix GTX780

The current partners adopting G-Sync are as follows Acer, AOC, ASUS, BenQ and Philips, this was correct at time of press release on the 7th Jan, as far as I can remember I believe Acer & Philips has since decided against it in favour of adaptive sync. Will update once I find the column proving my claim.

yeah i can see why you like the resolution more but the refresh rate is something you'll love more in th elong run trust me:d

i'll give an example. let's say you're playing bf4 you're looking at a building.
You make a 90 degree turn on 60hz it'll be blurry on 144hz it'll be sharp. that's how much difference it makes:) i can't go back to 60hz

well i will soon find out how much of a difference it makes, just glad i will be getting a better monitor to be honest

Qnix single input non SE models will all do 110Hz easily, 90% will do 120Hz too but most run theirs at 96Hz for longevity. Not bad for a £250 samsung panel.

Sharp is doing 8k now at 120hz and in Japan they are set to begin broadcasting in 8k in 4 years from now. They want to be ready for the 2020 Olympics in Japan with an 8k environment to showcase the games.
If I were upgrading, I'd wait a little while for the 4k tech to get faster for monitors at least, TV is already there.
