2gb crucial ballistix

Wooohooo mine just turned up brainpower 608 pcb's just dont know what the IC's are there is talk of infineon CE-6 or BE-5 ?? I dont think its UCCC but not sure

As what Phil said I believe 2GB is worth it from a gaming point of view or any particularly extensive task especially when paired with a dual core cpu however clocking wise 1GB will always be supreme.

Ive got a set stable at 300 3-3-3-8 :D best ram ever imo, ive also got 1gb set of OCZ Ek 3200 Rev 2 Plats that do 320 2.5-4-3-7 :D and a set of twinmos SP 265 2-2-2-5 :D normally i sell stuff on once i get something new but as all three are pretty damn good ive a ram for all occasions

I have 2x1gb sticks of Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 and I'm in the process of RMA'ing it. It refuses to run even at stock speeds. So hopefully the memory they give back to me runs better than the ones I have now.

Another pair of ballistix bite the dust

Don't think anyone will be any surprised to hear that my ballistix just died too. Started getting blue screens looking at the settings in Motherboard Monitor 5 only which is strange, no other apps caused a BSOD:? Reboots would hang sometimes and Prime95 too just when I thought I had a stable overclock - arrhhh. Turns out to be one stick of the RAM ... at least I don't need to pull out the mobo and watercooling phew:rolleyes:

Can some kind soul give me an idea of how long the RMA process takes? I might need to buy a cheap spare set if it's a slooooowwww process.

Sorry to hear about your ram mate.

Whole turn around was 4 days for me. They have a very good customer service department IMO.

Wow that is quick - I will give them a call tomorrow for the RMA number and hold off the buying if it's only a week or so. Cheers Nick

Mine also recently went faulty, rumour has it that crucial may stop producing the 1 gig sticks, so i hope mine dont go bad again otherwise its gaem over for a repalcement set as there is no way im taking 4 512 sticks

I RMAd my 2GB Ballistix (gold Z03s not tracers) and I had replacements arrive within 4 days which was nice and quick - great customer service. Crucial did not have the gold Z03s in stock so they gave me the Tracers instead since this was the only 2GB kit they had in stock. This is where things start to go wrong - unfortunately the Tracers give memtest errors at only 241MHz at standard timings so will have to go back:(

Like others have suggested, Crucial are no longer advertising the 2x1GB kits and technical support confirmed they were no longer selling them and have no stock, despite the ballistix RAM having a lifetime warranty. I have been asked to call back in a week when hopefully they will have replacement RAM in. It appears from their systems the RAM is still in production.

This does not look good since Crucial do not appear to have any 'performance' 2x1GB RAM kits to replace the current ballistix range, making the lifetime warranty almost worthless if they cease production. See what happens when I call them next week:?

With my first set of tracers (which wouldn't be stable @ stock 250) they offered me either a replacement or a refund so if you're having problems again you could ask for a refund. I think mine are going again as I got a BSOD last night completly out of the blue.

Well i bought some 2gb Ballistix of Equilibrium which are over 5 months old now. Still working perfectly, I think these are the good batches from before.

Does 300fsb 3-3-3-8 @ 2.7v but using it at speeds in sig 1:1:)

The lifetime warranty will be for the lifetime of the product. as soon as they stop making them, the warranty's are out

Tom

Good news Nick, that Crucial offered a refund - I think I might try this route given that they are looking to cease production. Especially if Tom is right and lifetime warranty refers to the product line which in my case will mean 6 months:O

but it could be the get of jail card is they have a plethora of failures that will cost more in refunds.

Not worth the risk dave mate - take the money and run to get some Gskill HZ, ZX or Shigsy's BHX series 2GB kits.

My second lot seem to be dying now :( Getting BSOD even at 200/3-4-4-8

What is the best memory for guaranteed 200/2-2-2-5/1T ?
