28nm AMD/nVidia graphics this year!

So it's not really worth going for an upgrade if you have decent card that can run games on middle/high settings. Better save up money for new beasts at the end of the year.

Hopefully the prices for the mid end 28nm GPUs won't be that high considering they are a smaller architecture and cheaper to make. So fingers crossed I get a good price for my 6850 from Ebay and that it will make up most of the money I need to get me a 28nm GPU

Amd & nvidea need to stop releasing marginaly better crap every five minutes and spend more time thinking their designs through. People can't afford to keep buying the tweak of the previous card which was a tweak of the card before that and so on, get it right first time, is that not what test labs are for? Think nvidea have learnt their lesson and are now releasing cards at a healthy pace. Amd are developing so rapidly i don't think many consumers can afford to keep up with them. how long ago did they release the 6900 series? like two months? how many people buy a new card every single month for a decent crossfire rig. arrgh i dunno maybe i'm just being a logic freak again

I think AMD and Nvidia have been saving the big performance increase for 28nm cards, the 6xxx and 5xx series that we have been getting lately might not be anything special in terms of performance but they have definitely improved price for performance. We will have to wait for benchmarks but i'm expecting a good things from 28nm cards, ive got my fingers crossed anyway.

True, i did pick up a 5770 with AvP included for £95, and 5870 is only £200

Die size doesn't mean anything. Intel are way ahead of both of them and I don't see anyone jumping for joy over their gfx.

If the fastest single gpu card was 65nm, I'd get it and so would everyone else wanting the same.

It's no good producing 28nm and performing like a previous gen.

True, but a small architecture also means less power consumption and less heat which are also important for GPUs. I think it's to early to say whether 28nm cards will be a huge leap forward in performance or not, we will just have to wait for benches.

Personally I think we will see big improvements in performance, price, power consumption and heat reduction, that's my opinon anyway, I could be wrong but we will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

Also it means more transistors in the same area(like 3 billion isn;t enough lol ^^) which means more cores more power! Well at least it should mean that.
