270X Toxic very low OC

Hi all, new to the forums here!

My rig:

4670K
Corsair H60
Sapphire 270X Toxic
Asus Z87 Gryphon
8GB 1600Hz HyperX
Corsair RM 850
Samsung 840 Evo 120
Seagate barracuda 1TB
Fractal Desing Arc Midi 2

My "issue" is that i'm very happy with the build overall but i'm not able to OC the GPU even a little (and little on cpu, for another thread..).

Just changed PSU from an EVGA 500B thinking i was running out of juice or had some stability issues and gave OC another try, same results.

The only difference the PSU has made is that 1st time playing on Dota 2 the computer just powered down, no BSOD or else but just off, and i know it's a silent unit but the fan doesn't spin even when stressing the system.

To the point, i get max 50Mhz on the core and not very stable and 20Mhz on the memory, i know not all silicon is created equal but the results seem pretty bad regardless.

Don't mind much about the OC as i'm getting a 760 Matrix soon but with other stability issues makes me think there's something wrong.

Temps when stressed: GPU 71 (61 gaming)
CPU 66 (60 gaming)

Thanks in advance for any input!

have you tried increasing the voltage at all? if so did it help? stupid question at the point I know but..

Also what are you using to OC the card? Also are you able to check what voltage the GPU is being fed? GPU-z

Hi! don't have any cable extensions, the system it's lean and latest drivers.

The voltage will go up to 1.219 in Unigine Valley (stock)

I'm using Afterburner and only unlocked the voltage in the options, to give an example i just tried a 50Mhz OC on core with +5% power offset, needless to say it crushed...

Is there anything i might be missing in the bios or afterburner? never had to change much in the past but you never know.

I believe they also allow offset control of the voltage control as well, at least the last time I used it for my 290x it did.

Tried a 5% offset and still crushing, not very familiar with offsets on GPU, how much is safe?

Also looking around the only ones able to push it a bit are reviewers with probably cherry picked samples, should just live it like it is since it has lots of OC from factory already?

Well you could max it no problem, just keep temps in check and set fan speed to ~80% or max.

Was never a fan of the 270x, would have much preferred a 7950.

Happy with it at stock, very quiet and cool, looks the part too.

Just noticed when increasing the voltage offset the max V usage doesn't change from stock?

Right sorry about that forgot the that card had a voltage lock, the best you can do at this point is max out the power limit and give the OC another shot. Should be able to get around 1.2ghz

I've had the same issue with my Giga 270x and I just wrote it off as a bad chip... I could get +40mhz on the core and +50 on the memory... I just assumed I lost the lottery badly :/

Thanks for the replies, it now makes sense.
Not much fun the factory OC, hopefully will have better luck with the 760 Mars :)
