2560x1440 @ 144MHz or 3440x1440

well @ newegg the Swift is 799$ and the 34UM95 is 999$ I could of grabbed a Swift for 750$ up til yesterday with a coupon code for 40$ off but I'm still on the fence about it. Swift TH vs um95's AH-IPS. I'm already running a Qnix 2560x1440 monitor and yeas 1440 gaming is awesome but I'm wondering how much more immersive 3440 is over 2650 lol and how much more immersive gsync is. I'm still researching both as well as others trying to decide what to do.

Problem is I don't have a monitor now as my old one died so I'm desperate to get one and don't really want to wait.

I think it's gonna be a choice between the AOC IPS 34inch 3440x1440 or the acer predator 4k gsync

I've had AOC monitors before and they are very good Matter of fact my step son is still using it for his gaming rig lol.

The Aoc is a really nice looking monitor and uses the same panel as the LG but has no gsync and runs at 60hz.

It's so hard making a purchasing decision for a monitor as it will stay with me the longest and needs to be a future proof choice.

Depends on what/how you play!
But honestly the jump from 60Hz to 144Hz is amazing, I'd never go back. I even enjoy moving around a windows explorer window without blur!
Only reason I would consider an Ultrawide over 144Hz would be for productivity or for games such as WoW where screen real estate is beneficial.

I have an LG34UM94P (3440x1440) and it's awesome for my content creation, loads of desktop real-estate and with a 24" side monitor for pallets and clutter windows (render options, etc) it's even better. I have it hooked up to my game rig too but i'm noticing that full screen refresh on it (so in 3rd, 1st person games and scrolling across landscapes in RTS) is tiring to look at for long periods (2-3+ Hrs). Even with 2 970's driving it there was tearing in a lot of games and when i used adaptive sync i noticed the micro stutter a lot. It's the main reason i'm looking at getting a high refresh rate monitor for gaming and just use the LG for content.
I'd agree with Lynx too, WoW at 3440x1440 on the LG is pretty sweet. It would be sweeter if i could get WoW to run more smoothly. That's a topic for another thread tho.

well I do play WoW along with a plethora of other games as well. Matter of fact I need to get in reinstalled after changing from raided 240's to a single 1tb drive. Still undecided lol I havent found a shop around that I can go and compare the difference at. Most places here dont keep the high end stuff in stock unfortunately.

Same problem as me, I would love to actually test them out. I really need to make a decision tomorrow.

4k gsync

Or

Ultra wide 60hz

I'm pushing towards ultra simply for the AH-IPS vs TN also have a line on a used 34UM94-P for 650$ shipped and the pics he's sent me of it in action are very good. Some light bleed but I can correct that I'm sure.

Having been thinking about it, 3440x1440 is quite the sweet spot for racing games. Anno 2070 (if I ever played it again) would be sweet as a nut :). It's also less than 4k so less taxing on the gpu's.

The question is, do I (or anybody!) wait until the reviews are in for the Acer Predator XR341CK or jump on it as soon as it's released? With an estimated price of >£800 (more likely a grand), it's a big punt to take and a commitment to NVidia for the life of the monitor. Also, if VR takes off despite the hype the monitor could be redundant for many games.

Lynx, you've made me wonder something - I haven't read about G-Sync's 2D performance. I wonder if G-Sync is persistent when not gaming, and would it give the super-smooth motion you see in Windows?

Nah I wouldn't think it would affect it. It's the 144Hz refresh rate that creates that impact. Now I wonder if the ULMB would?

Oh and I fully intend to purchase the XR341CK the day it is available from Scan. :)

If FPS games are concern don't bother with any 60Hz monitor. I have Swift and it was the best purchasing decision I have made in recent times. Gsync is doing a very good job.

34UM95 is a 60Hz monitor and have input lag too. I buy PG278Q over 34UM95 any day of the week. I used surround 5760x1080 setup for very long in last years and Gsync is way better than this.

I'd wait till Freesync monitors become more readily available. Prices should drop down and more options should open up whether you use nvidia or amd. Worth the wait imo

got the monitor yesterday and OMFG!!! its awesome the colors the extra real estate. Did notice my gpus working a lil harder but nothing hey cant handle rocked out some BF4 for a few hours and wow what I see now that I didnt before lol.

congrats brah :) patiently waiting over here for the 21:9 fluid goodness... another ~10 months or so to go!
