2 New Acer 1440p G-Sync Monitors

Who said I'm getting it? ;)

If its cheaper then the freesync version then I might do. The only issue is that currently G sync monitors don't like AMD cards at all.

The only issue is a 780Ti won't spit out 144 frames of anything with all the eye candy cranked up and the 295X2 is the only viable single slot alternative but then G-Sync. The IPS panel may have addressed the marginal issue of ultimate color accuracy but it's still G-Sync so it's not really changed anything.

You should be very not hyped about it really and mad with the whole corrupt industry of G-Sync. If anything the XB is worse than a Swift because you can't dismiss you want it on the grounds it's TN.

I feel like Free Sync has potential but doesn't feel like it's truly tried/tested and shown to work as G-Sync has. Also isn't free sync currently only designed to work with AMD cards? or has this now changed? I'm aware that the technology is capable of working with both Nvidia and AMD just dunno if it's confirmed it will do?

Only for AMD simply because Nvidia won't support it, even when they easily could. All it is really is just an open industry VESA standard. Meaning you need the cable, monitor, and the newest DP standard of 1.3(something like that) to get it. Whereas G-Sync is Nvidia hardware(that supports it), monitor, and cable. FreeSync is the cheaper option that achieves the same thing. Also because it is a standard is has more lasting power than G-Sync does. You won't see G-Sync in TVs but its possible to see FreeSync simply because if they support DP its automatically supported.

I don't like the Swift because its too expensive for what it is and its ROG . Which isn't exactly my cup of tea at the moment.

When I get a new monitor I expect it to last and be compatible in the future. Not feeling that Gsync is the way forward in that regard.

But what other choice do we have? There's G-Sync, FreeSync and a monitor without them.
For someone who is hooked on to one company the choice is clear. It's the people that change from one brand to another will have a harder time getting max out of a monitor.
Then again, G-Sync and FreeSync will only matter to gamers and they are usually going with one chosen brand.

Freesync is just a display port standard and has no added cost for it to manufacturers. G sync is a piece of hardware and commands a higher price.

I do alot of gaming and I don't stick to one GPU brand. Its a childish and rather daft idea. Most people usually come up with some excuse that 'Oh, I once had AMD/Nvidia and it broke/had driver issues/mysteriously caught fire after plugging it into a no name 300w powersupply several years ago. 9 times out of 10 people avoid the other brand for something they did wrong but are too proud to admit or they bought a card that was notoriously hot running (point in hand, anyone who goes for just AMD after their 480 did what they do best and got hot).

They're both equally crap imo ;)

However you can often make a point where a game runs better on an nVidia cards rather than the AMD one. I think it's mostly because of the drivers but that gets sorted out after a short time.

I have no idea why I prefer nVidia over AMD. Maybe it's because when I was changing cards, at the time the nVidia counterparts were better suited for the money I could spend.

Yeah, notice the "A". Quite often its only really bad for one if its Nvidia gameworks, an Ubisoft game (I guess everyone looses if it is one of those) or Nvidia got pissy about something on the flip side. When I had AMD cards, they were often on par/faster then their Nvidia equivilents.

My last two cards were AMD, I recently got the 780Ti as it was the only decent GPU that fitted in my case and was decently powerful. It also looked amazing B) .
