IPS
HIGH REFRESH RATE
gsync tho, yaaay...

Looks like I was right to wait ^_^

yeah, it is pretty much everything everybody wants in a monitor. The question is whether it lives up to expectations.

I wonder if there will also be an FreeSync version.

As cool as this is companies need to stop sitting on their hands and get to work releasing fully fledged Freesync monitors.

I think a large range of FreeSync monitors will be revealed next week at CES.

Hopefully they will finally give us a clear release date and pricing details.

High refresh rate IPS panels were made about six months ago. Pretty sure the XB270HU is the first one out.

bbbbut they can't overcharge for it in the same way they can do with Gsync :(((

I agree with you, Freesync should be much more common than it is currently.

Correct me if Im wrong but isnt only one of those 2 IPS with Gsync? Both are IPS 144hz but I think only the XB270HU has Gsync module.

Hang on wut, why are people not giving it more s*** for being G-sync. Does IPS even make any sense for gaming? Will this not also be really expensive? Sorry just weirded by the amount of hype considering the general forum thoughts on the Swift.

Also i'm really disappointed on how quickly you sold out to the G-Sync croud Barnsley ;)

From what i can gather the G-Sync bug, at least imo has some clout as it's been shown to work and also very effective. IPS screens look gorgeous so definitely great for gaming especially with these higher refresh rate panels. Further more, for someone like me who currently has the monitor on a step/stand, the improved viewing angles provide a noticeable difference.

I feel like Free Sync has potential but doesn't feel like it's truly tried/tested and shown to work as G-Sync has. Also isn't free sync currently only designed to work with AMD cards? or has this now changed? I'm aware that the technology is capable of working with both Nvidia and AMD just dunno if it's confirmed it will do?

I game on my Dell which isn't gsync, and the colours are fucking amazing! I'd never go back a inferior panel ever!!

Gsync is a wonderful addition to IPS panels, I'd for one be happy to pay for this!

If they can get the response time down from a traditional IPS...

If they can deal with IPS glow as well as Asus have dealt with the colour limitations of TN...

And very crucially IF they can deliver that at a price competitive with the Swift then I will concede it is a great option for gaming. As it stands right now it looks like it occupies the middle ground between the likes of a U2715H and a Swift rather convincingly on spec alone, I suppose that's what a lot of people are after. Personally I prefer living with the downfalls of a Swift (not every TN ever) to those of an IPS panel. I favour deep blacks over colour accuracy. If the Acer manages to be all things to all people then kudos but I think there will be limitations.

It's a shame that the IPS variant looks so clunky and old school. Not exactly desk candy like the others.

I'll stick with G-sync for now , and see where the ips goes over the next 12 months or so . Though it is interesting too see what AMD and nvidia have to offer in 2015 .

Who said I'm getting it? ;)

If its cheaper then the freesync version then I might do. The only issue is that currently G sync monitors don't like AMD cards at all.
