2 gtx 590 vs 4 gtx580

If you want any overclocking you will want to go with 4 580s. 590s can not be overclocked do to there lack of/ terrible VRMs. But it will cost more to water cool 4 580s (watercooling will need to happen with this set up) than it would be 2 590s.

quad 580s. You'd need to liquid cool them though. Each card up is 10 C hotter than the one below it

ie ( 109 C) <- way too hot

( 99 C) <- still too hot

(89 C) <- normal for running Furmark

(79 C) <- 3 C warmer than playing Crysis

add 9 to 10 C to each card for running Furmark

Not to mention a GTX 580 is like 57dB. You'd need a 480 rad too cool all that (minimum, thick rad + good fans).

Try 4 480 rads in a caselabs th10

Even I think a 3 x 360 rads is overkill. Maybe a thick 480 + a thick 240 or 120. I think the Koolance kit looks pretty sweet. (get fast fans, I plan to WC my CPU with an XSPC RX240 kit + 4 CM SickleFlows, you might need faster fans though). I'd love to get my hands on a single GTX 580. If you plan to WC, buy from EVGA. Even if you break the card while removing the stock cooler, your warranty is still valid.

Edit: An RX360 with ~2000RPM fans (and 1.5GPM flow rate) will get you a 15.41 C delta. Decent enough for GPUs.

I have 2 gtx 590s water cooled and have to say never go quad sli, tri sli'd 580's will give you almost the same if not better performance since the fourth gpu only scales about 10 to 15% if your lucky. I've also been having micro stutter not horrible but enough to bug the hell out of me. Also you can over clock 590s mines running at 800mhz core stable. My advice which I my self am going for is the evga HC2 3 gig cards x3 it's about 600 dollars more the my 590's but hey I'm getting full price from my 590's so no money lost.

unbelievable how much radiator surface area u need. my yamaha r6 radiator is 25cm x 38cm x 3.8cm, slightly bigger that two xspc rs360 rads and its enough to keep a 100hp 15,000rpm redline 600cc engine at 80c flat strap
