1st Watercooling setup - help needed

Hi

I am planning on watercooling my new build with the following parts:

ASUS Maximus Extreme

Q6600 CPU overclocked (tide me over until the 45nm becomes affordable)

BFG 8800 GTX OC WC

this will be my 1st watercooled build and I have some questions

I have noticed the pricey Koolance systems and they look quite tidy but is this at the expense of performance?

I am keen for the whole watercooling setup to be as integrated as possible into the case, I don't really want piping running externally, so what cases/radiators etc are most suited to this.

The budget for the watercooling & case is around 350 GBP

any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Mike

Ensure you have at least a triple radiator... with fans moving at a bare minimum 40cfm to be able to cope with that heatload at a decent temperature.

Have a look around the various UK online stores... many can provide all the latest top-performing water parts prefitted for around that price (eg: HERE - v2KPro features triple radiator)

I have the set-up in my Sig for pretty much exactly the same set-up, it does a good job, my Q6600 never goes above 60*C, or i haven't seen it, except when i was running OCCT, but it's eating 1.525 volts.

the Thermaltake Kandalf LCS is only 150 and is a case + liquid cooling kit.

Don't go anywhere near a Thermaltake system... you could probably get better temps with a decent air setup.

Custom ftw :D

I am building a similar system. I'd suggest a triple rad if you can fit one. The cost isn't much more than a double anyway.

FWIW I am thinking of:

DDC-1 Pump (Acrylic top)

Apogee GTX

EK FC8800 Acetal top

PA120.3

3/8" tubing

My current system has 1/2" tubing, but it's a pain to route. The difference between 1/2" and 3/8" tends to be less than 1C, so I'm going to the more flexible option. I will be installing in a P182 with the rad strapped to the back.

I'd be interested to know what goes into a TT LCS system, how come they are so bad?

materials used to make the kits and there pumps last about 10mins if your lucky.

take a look at any of the decent water-cooling stores and you will find none of them sell thermatake ;)
