it looks like the time for 8800 cards.

pirce is lower, and im sick of using my Laptop and borrowing my bro GFX card for games.

long story short, (if you guys remember i had to repair my car, well, it came off A LOT better than i thought, so im now in a better situation to spend some dosh!) would a 8800GTS run some games fine on 1920x1200?

am i going to see a slow motion version of the game instead?

8800GTX price arent too bad at the moment, i can see 360+postage.

to be honest, i dont play games all that much, A, cause i dont have time, B, im crap at it

to give you a idea of what type of games i play(maybe that'll help in choosing a card?)

Supreme commander - un-opened, no time for it plus PC isnt useable

C&C3 - un-open, same reason, and dont even ask me why i bought it....LOL

yeah.....so......i like games with BIG maps....

Concur; early benches are showing the equivalent 2900 leading the 8800 by ~15% on average, more or less depending on which game. And the street price should be about the same.

i have played fear, supcom and cnc 3 on my spanking new 640mb 8800gts on my spanking new dell 2407wfp at 1920x1200 completely maxed settings and i have to say.. smooooooth

i've yet to test 2142 but i will report back as soon as i've tried farcry (AA+HDR at last?!)

That asus 8800gts 640mb on speicaltech is a damned good price. Might have to save abit of dosh..!
