Would you rather buy a 5870 or a 6870?

Also im planning to have another 1 for crossfire config.

I'm looking to replace my 5770. My first choice is to get 5870 then I saw 6870 which is less than £2 than the 5870. For the 560ti I can't do sli because I'm using CH4F and it doesn't support sli.

kev you dont say what your board is but if you cab xfire there's a good chance you can get sli to work too.

tbh i think i would take the 5870 out of those but they suit the games i play better.

edit

just had a quick scan about and you could get 2 5850 for just over £200 and thats a beefy gpu setup for the price.

a good old saying we have here

buy the single most powerful card you can and then add another later if need be. I had the CHIVF and ur right no sli options there. But I have the 560Ti and it preformed very admirably as a single card on it. I now have the extreme version and plan on playing with its Lucid someday but for now its giving me 49-60fps in crysis2 and WoW 60fps all at extreme settings. its one amazing card you will not regret looking into it (or buying it) as a single card solution

Of these benchmarks alone, the 5870 might be the better choice.

This shows how the AMD cards compare to the 560 TI. Depending on what games you play then it might be worth the extra 50 quid to you. You should also factor in Physx and 3D gaming when considering the 560 TI.

If you've already got a 5770 then I would have thought two in CrossFire would give you pritty good performance. Unfortunatly anandtech.com don't let you compare 5770's in CF but this review recons that it out performs a 5870.

Hope this helps.
