£1100 Gaming build

Hi all,

I have been planning on building a PC for over 2 years now and will have the money for it at the beginning of February which is around £1100, although £1000 is preferred.

If anyone could help me on a few parts for the build as i want to do it right first time, and have a rig that i can play games on max settings at 1920 x 1080 res.

for the case i am pretty sure i want to go for the new NZXT H440 which tom recently reviewed, looks amazing and would love to have that on my desk.

the parts i already have are:

1TB HDD
Windows 8.1
I have a monitor (1920 x 1080), and both keyboard and mouse
Mostly gaming, with some light CAD work
If in the budget i can get decent cooling for a CPU i would like to overclock yes, thas goes for both CPU and GPU

any help on this would be great, thank you in advance!

sounds good. there are other good motherboard choices out there as well if you don't want an msi board for some reason
maybe get a bigger ssd, should be within the budged

i'd add a pair of sp120 qe's though

that does look like a quite nice build but that does not include a PSU and i think with a PSU it goes a little over budget.

And i read that the R9 290 is worth getting over the 780, especially with the new aftermarket coolers coming in, whats your guys opinion?

That was my mistake, edited in an RM750 in to keep with the silence of the H440, and knocked the RAM down to Vengeance 1600MHz to compensate

Just as AMD vs nVidia has always been, it's mostly preference. I hear that the 290/x is superior under water, but otherwise it's a bit of a tossup. Go with what you prefer

Yeah, he can definitely play around with certain parts or brands to go for preferences, but this should be a good starting point

according to benchmarks they're both good. although as said, it's the usual amd vs nvid thing. lots of personal preference.
i personally prefer nvidia as i still hear quite a bit about amd driver problems. some people say they don't exist anymore, but i don't think so tbh

The 290 is fine as long as you get one with an aftermarket cooler. Good luck with that though as AMD prices are still pretty poor due to crypto currency.
