$1000-$1300 build

Well guess this is as good a time as any to make my first post

Not to sure if this gos here but i cant really find a place to ask it

So i think i will be updating my junk 5-7 year old pc soon and im not that into all the new stuff (never even heard of overclocking till like a year ago)

Just wanted to get some options on the build i have so far (this is coming from a custom pc building site because it will cost more building it myself)

Case: CoolerMaster 690 II Advanced Mid-Tower Gaming Case / HAF 922 maybe...

CPU: AMD Phenom™II X6 1090T, 1055T or 965 most likely 1055T

GPU: x2 ATI Radeon HD 5770 in crossfire (asus) (x1 if i cant go over $1000 when i find out)

Cooling: Asetek 510LC Liquid Cooling System 120MM Radiator & Fan

mobo?: ASUS M4A87TD EVO AMD 870 Chipset CrossFireX Support DDR3 Socket AM3

RAM: 4gig DDR3 1333/1600 A-Data Gaming Series or 4gig DDR3 1333 corsair XMS3

PSU: Not sure really some kind of 600-800 watts

HD: Some random brand (doesn't say) 1TB SATA-III 6.0Gb/s 64MB Cache 7200RPM

I want a samsung spinpoint F3 1gig but with this website you dont get to pick on the 1gigs

With Win7 home and on board sound card (dont have the money i dont think)

I have a montior g19 keyboard and razer mamba mouse (keyboard and mouse both suck for how much they cost)

This comes to about 1200-1300 i think on the site

My old pc is a gateway emachines AMD athlon64 x2 6000+ geforce 6150SE GPU (nothing upgraded added 1 junk hd)

I quite like either of those cases, but we'll wait for TTL to give his verdict, he's the expert on good cases.

CPU-wise, the 1055T is awesome and can always be overclocked to reach the 1090T levels pretty easily I'd have thought.

Crossfire 5770's is a sweet set up especially for how much (or should I say how little) it costs.

I'm by no means an expert on AMD mobo's so I'll skip to the other bits I do know a little about.

For the PSU, you really need someone of good quality, like Corsair, and with two 5770's I'd say a 750w would be a safe bet? In which case either the TX750W or the modular HX750W.

All in all, from what I can tell, looks a good build and should perform PRETTY NICELY in most areas.

First and most importantly that motherboard does not support full speed crossfire, the second lane is crippled at 4x, you need to make sure you get a board with both lanes at 16x and also pcie 2.0.

Secondly for the case size you can really save some money by buying the Xigmatec Utgard, its absolutelly brilliant for the price and will tick all the boxes of the two cases you chosen and a few more besides.... Plus its cheaper too!

For one thing, you'll notice he says he's going for a builder site to do it, so he doesn't have much choice. For another, pretty sure the Utgard isn't readily available in the US.

Anyways, might help if you said which custom site so we can compare to what can be spec'ed out by building on your own. I find it hard to believe it costs less. This is what I spec'ed out on Newegg for $1363.61:



Use Bing cashback and you'll get 2% back in 2 months, which at this price range would be $20-30. And if you're willing to do rebates, there's $10 for one of the graphics cards and $10 for the PSU.

And if you need lower price, drop the SSD and you're looking at $1138.62. Or swap in an Intel X25-V for a boot drive (and a few apps) for $1253.61 or perhaps a OCZ Agility 60GB for $1297.62

Well the system will have windows 7 pre installed and since i dont have a windows 7 disc i would have to buy that to and the fans/cooler

The build was with 2 5770s but since the mother board dont work right with it like tiny said im going to have to go with a ASUS Crosshair IV Formula -- AMD 890FX ($130ish more then the other one)

Or not go for crossfire and just get 1 or something along the lines of ATI Radeon HD 5850 - 1GB XFX XXX Edition

The AMD system gets free games with it (Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2)

The 2 sites im looking at really are the same its ibuypower and cyberpowerpc because digital storm online costs about 300 more then these with not as good parts

Sounds good right got the HD 5850 because i could always dual them later when i have more money and dual 5770s is about the same as 1 5850 from some sites i seen reviews on
