I don't like him all clean shaven and scarless. Gave him character. Although that's how he is in the books.

Maybe the story starts at a time before he got the scar and the rugged look.
Or it could be just shortly after he finally and officially became a full-fledged Witcher.

Cuz if I remember correctly, he got that scar from a Griffin or a Cockatrice?

He got it from a striga. But considering the series is based off the book he has no scar in the book. It's from the first game I believe. Don't remember atm.

In the books Geralt constantly complains when he's not clean shaven. He hates facial hair. So it makes sense. But the actor is just horrible for this role and looks nothing like a rugged old Witcher. He looks super young. Fresh out of Khaer Mohen.

Yeah, I think their choice is terrible for Geralt.

Clean shaven or not, Henry is too much of a pretty boy. Even if he grew his beard, he simply doesnt have the rugged, weathered look we would expect.

Scot Atkins would have even been a better role. That guy even has better experience throwing his fists and feet around... hell. Keanu Reeves could have pulled off a better Geralt!

Poor choice, very poor choice.

Now imagine if for movies and/or series black characters Blade, Black Panther, Storm, Misty Knight, Spawn, Cyborg, James Rhodes, Bishop or Luke Cage were replaced with a white actor, Cities would be set on fire, There would be global outrage, People would be killed in the streets, Careers would be ended and lives ruined.

Other way around though is totally fine.

logic is a bit flawed there given the story and settings on some are in black communities. Poland might kick up a little fuss and/or die hard witcher fans, but life goes on. Its been done many times before.

The best example is white washing in Ghost in the shell, and Matt Damon in the Great wall.

They boycotted the movies a while and then nothing happened. No one was fired, no one was linched yada yada yada.

The Great Wall wasn't "white washed" as Matt Damon was not playing an Asian character, He was playing a European mercenary who was travelling through China, Ghost in the Shell though they messed up on and that was "white washing", They should have had a Japanese actress for that, Scarlett Johansen really didn't suit that role,The Witcher series however is being black washed.

As someone on Twitter said -

"I think its amazing when you have a story based on Slavic people but don't have almost any Slavic person in it."

It would be like changing Blade to be a Norwegian blonde white man, It would be wrong on so many levels.

Original script of The great wall was an asian character. But it was changed to accomodate Matt Damon as they felt he was perfect for the role. And in my opinion he certainly was.

I get your point though, just think it's a little exaggerated. If we based movie/tv adaptations from books and stuck with them, you would see very few coloured actors/actresses at all.

Netflix however are known to be "d**ks". While the movie industry may try to be true to a book adaptation as much as possible (with exception of the hobbit for throwing in a woman as main character), Netflix do their own thing without care. Worst case for them is they cancel the series.

Richard Madden (Rob stark) from Game of thrones was thrown out of their office, because he wanted a bottle of water. Never mind that he was the main actor on the their licensed show "Body guard". He picked one up and was demanded to put it back as it was for employees only. After a little discussion they asked him to leave :D

Anyways...

Not sure what company was employed for the casting, but they certainly failed here.

To keep into context however the Witcher lore pretty much NEVER says colored skin exist. It's all white. However the Witcher stories heavily feature racism, bigotry, genocide, etc. Still however it's all white skin. It should stay that way for the series. It's an established lore that should not be changed. I don't care about skin color but when a world that they DID NOT create says it's all white people, make it damn white people. If they had one black/yellow/gold/whatever skin colored person in the lore, fine you can put them in there. But adding them to appease the SJWs and political BS the liberal writing team(which they very openly are) for the sake of being fair, really ticks me off.

Then on top of that the cast is very poor. I'll watch the series as long as I can but I will definitely stop if it's cringy.

Agreed, People should stick to the source material as closely as possible and not inject their ideology to appease a certain audience that generally doesn't watch this type of thing anyway.

I said it before but I'll say it again, It would be like changing Blade to be a Norwegian blonde white man, It'd be wrong on so many levels as Blade is Wesley Snipes and no one else can replace him.

And that is the problem we have now. Fear of the political nonsense that could cause backlash. After seeing this "Z list" cast I feel a poor season coming along.

Not to mention, the cost of keeping Henry Cavill for subsequent seasons should it do well. He's openly admitted he loves the money more than the joy of acting. It's like they poured their budget into his salary and sacrificed all others.

Yeah I don't watch TV shows too see political correctness. I watch for enjoyment.

Mr. Cavill is getting paid $400k per episode. Which is $3.2 million for the season. That's a lot of money for a TV show and especially a Netflix show at that.

Hope all the other actors and actress's are getting the same equality and all :D

Well considering Netflix has major debts, they basically loan money in order to make shows and movies. So wouldn’t be surprised if they loaned money in order to pay him lol.

I am fairly certain not one of them is even making $100k per episode. I remember reading that when I first found out how much Cavill was making but can't remember the exact number.

So they can apply there liberal agenda to the story but not to paying the actors. Irony at it's finest.

spot on dude!

I too want to see more original stories which feature people of all different backgrounds and genders and I think slowly but surely this is happening. But when it comes to source material which has already been created then why do this! It's ridiculous.

Imagine if black panther which quite rightly featured a primarily black cast, suddenly decided to cast a few token white africans to keep people happy. It would be stupid and unnecessary and I would feel the exact same way. I like to think our generation will organically be more inclusive as time goes on rather than forcing it for Political correctness sake

I wish shows like Firefly and Terranova didnt have such high paid actors, we might have seen more. I still think Firefly is one of my favourites of all time. Instead they cancelled due to the cost being too high.

I expect the same for Witcher. Honestly don't see it lasting if thats his salary. On top of that, he does movies not TV shows. Pretty sure he will get bored fast and move on. Not exactly easy to replace your main character.

I guess they brought in a big name to try and introduce the world of non gamers to the Witcher.
