4A Games showcases the technology behind Metro Exodus Ray Traced Global Illumination

I don't think I've ever seen you lose composure before.. always so serious^_^

To be fair though this video was about as perfect as a demonstration of what Ray Tracing really is. Very well made.

I'm a bit intrigued by this video though as it seems they aren't comparing ray traced global illumination against non-ray traced solutions that have always been used like irradiance volumes/probes. It looks like they are comparing it against just regular ambient light - so I don't know how fair this comparison is.

I still think the RTX version would look better though, especially on being able to accurately model the sky occlusion inside interiors.

Depends on your terminology of better. It will definately look better. Gameplay, not so much.

Right, which is what is becoming increasingly hard to find (good games with good gameplay). They look good enough for me *shrugs*.

This is what I meant when I said it won't make a bad game any better. Example, BF5 or whatever they are calling it. I got so bored by the end of BF4 that when I tried out BF1 I got bored before the prologue was even over.

Now if you could add RT to a good game? then yes, I totally admit it would make the experience better. But when you are so starving for a decent game to play and there are none in your genre etc? Yeah, it's kinda irrelevant.

Problem is there is a lot of bad press about the gaming industry right now. This whole loot box thing, EA are having issues, Activision are having issues, every one is knocking out boring sequel after boring sequel and ETC.

I can not even remember the last time I saw some innovation in the gameplay department. In fact, yes I can, it was playing a £3 indie title.

But the state of the industry as a whole? yeah, not good. OK then we move onto the people responsible for PC gaming. That is a joke too. Seriously, £1200 for a GPU? time you add in the CPU etc you could buy a decent car FFS. One that has a computer in it !!!

It's just getting beyond silly now. And the more people enable it the angrier it makes me. And yes, I do actually have a right to be angry dude. Just like when every one was angry when Ryzen came out (but not before, foolish) and showed Intel what they could do with their £185 dual core CPUs.

The more people enable Nvidia the more they will push it. Now it is getting beyond stupid and ridiculous, now is the time (for me at least, as well as a few others around here) to say enough is enough.
