Stephen Hawking has passed away

I think it would be great if the Devs at Elite Dangerous would name a station or system after this amazing and funny man. I am truly saddened by this great loss :(

As much as I like the idea, there are too many disrepectful A holes in the world who would find it fun to target it and try to destroy it.

There was a special event/ journey run for someone recently that was intended to be a grand exploration across the galaxies. It was ruined by trolls showing up and trying to destroy the ships.

Agreed, only problem with big online multiplayer games is the inevitability of trolls trying to ruin it. Just read that picture you posted, god damn Frontier and the Elite community get my respect for that

I have to say I totally forgot that ED is an MMO and yeah I see your point guys

To be honest. I'd probably forget that as well  I'd say if they were to name anything after him it would be something that can't be destroyed like a Black Hole I would say

Very saddened. I spent about two months in a wheelchair and I know how frustrating it was. This guy spent over 50 years in one and still managed to focus on being the true genius that he was, and with a wicked sense of humour. Very sad to see him gone.

They've named a ton of other stations after famous sci-fi people, so I'm sure there will be a port named after Hawking, if it hasn't been done already. I've already seen Sagan, Nimoy, etc, so I think that's pretty much a given.

They are bound to name something after Hawking. The guy had a huge impact on Cosmology after all.

Here are one of his funny stories a friend of mine told me :).

A Newsnight producer was left in a room with Hawking, setting up for the interview. He pulled out a lead for a light and Hawking slumped forward in his chair like something vital had been disconnected. The producer ran out for help and returned to the room to find Hawking chuckling.
