Question Which Router Do i choose ?

Hi everyone,

Just wanted some advise if possible, Buying a router tomorrow for my virgin 100mb connection, And i cant decide which one, Its between these 2 - Asus RT-N16 and the Asus RT-N56U. Or if you can recommend any others please let me know, It will be used more for hard wired connections versus wifi, and an ftp server will also be connected.

My budget is around £100.

me personally, would only go with either Linksys or Netgear, top names in the router game! ive never ever had any issues with any of them

If you don't care about wireless so much, I'd go with the RT-N16 to save a few bucks. I don't know if the N56U is DD-WRT compatible. If you care at all about wireless in the future I'd go with a dual-band router, especially if you have close neighbors.

If I had to pick a router today I'd go with the ASUS RT-N66U or the AC model, but they are quite a bit more expensive than even the N56U.

I would go for something that supports Openwrt but it depends on what features you want.

I personally use Openwrt a lot and have custom firewall scripts, QoS configs etc..
