My thoughts too. I don't mind the Library tiles being different, I just want to hide the sidebar and get rid of the 'What's New' tosh. If I'm in my library, I want to choose a game and play it; not be told what's been updated or what's popular in the community right now. That belongs in "Community", no where else.

Yeah I phoned ocuk they said they'd do it.

Bear in mind I'm on 1080p..

Yes the super is 10% faster but the cooler is nowhere near as good and it doesn't look as nice. Warranty is worse also..

IDK...

I'm replacing a Vega 64 as its just such an to live with like most high end AMD cards.

Thing is with it being cheap and the evga being better how much theoretical real world performance will I lose? If the kfa OCS like poo and the evga doesn't ?

That's the dilemma. I'm happy with the price. They're dropping nicely, and the performance will be great. It'll slaughter this Vega, which seems to be stuck at 1350mhz. Nothing I do makes it go higher, it just locks up the pc

I would 100% go for the one with the better, quieter and more efficient cooler that can keep clocks stable instead of dancing around, yeah it might not be as fast as the super, but you're on 1080p, i hardly doubt it will matter all that much.

I want Control.

I watched a 1 hour docu on YouTube the other day called the rise and fall of max Payne. I didn't realise control was from the same team who did MP and Alan Wake. So yeah, do want..

2060 standard works very well 1080p with control. So 2070 will smash it any way....

I'm siding with you btw. This devil 64 is a dog to live with. Like many high end AMD cards. Never quite right.

OK. So I was all about to order. Went to OCUK, and mysteriously the price has been stuffed up to the exact same price as the 2070 Super. So, they must have done that deliberately as it happened right after I phoned them.

Which kinda threw me in a loop. So, I decided to do some last gasp research and I am glad I did.

The 2070 Super is not 10% faster than the 2070. It's at least 16% faster and up to 24% faster overclocked. I also watched a German video on YT and it's not a bad card at all. At stock the card runs 1' hotter than the FE, and overclocked it runs 5c cooler. But yeah, overall it does absolutely trounce the 2070.

TBH the 2070 is not much faster than this Vega 64, if the Vega worked properly. Problem is it doesn't, and gets locked to 1350mhz, some 300mhz lower than the stated clock boost in GPUZ. If I overclock, it freezes. If I undervolt, it freezes. If I put it in Radeon Chill it doesn't crash, but it only clocks to around 1200mhz.

This isn't the first time I have had such issues with very high end AMD cards. They all seem to be so far behind Nvidia that they have had their balls clocked off and so behave erratically. I really CBA with it any more.

So, 2070 Super it is. It's 1080Ti performance (to match almost my Titan XP so it's a level playing field) with RT, with a game worth £40 or more. Which I probably would have got any way.

There's not really any low side to this, because I now have a whole pretty potent spares box, which will build me *another* gaming PC. I already had the case, and I have absolutely everything I need to build another gaming PC with the guts of this one. And TBH? it's not bad. 10 core BE with 16gb quad channel ram running a Vega 64. Which I will use in my bedroom on the TV.

Plus when you are a worrier such as I it's nice to have a machine to fall back on, just in case.

God. Can't believe I've actually bought a new GPU. It's been nearly three years. But £450 is usually about my tap out zone, and Control runs very well on just a 2060 so I am in for a treat. And oh yeah, Quake 2 is one of my fave games ever.

And I've not done bad. Bought a whole new rig sans the case, with that mental U.2 NVME drive, 2tb firecuda, £450 RRP mobo with 16 core Xeon, ram, 2070 Super and came in at around the grand mark.

AMD GPU drivers are still wonky, even after decades, LOL! AMD drivers broke overclocking for my Radeon VII too, damn thing USED to clock to 2100mhz without issue, now it's back to stock at 1700+. As much as I want AMD to succeed, that company hurts my brain with their behavior sometimes.

The card isn't right tbh. If you switch it to OC mode it pink screens on boot. The second BIOS doesn't work either.

It was cheap though. £200 a year ago and its worked ok I guess. Going into a new rig now using all my old parts.

But yeah, 7970 was hot AF, 290 acted odd, Fury X was another oddball and this is no better.

And don't even get me started on the 7990.

Go for the Super if you're at 1080P and if they're the same price, Yeah sure the cooler isn't THE best but performance can be as much as 20+FPS better on the super vs the non Super at 1080P and KFA/Galax are a solid brand.

Metro Last Light Redux 1080P
EVGA Black 2070 - 172FPS
Nvidia 2070 FE Super -200FPS

Hitman 1080P
EVGA Black 2070 - 124FPS
Nvidia 2070 FE Super - 149FPS

Shadow of the Tomb Raider 1080P
EVGA Black 2070 - 97FPS
Nvidia 2070 FE Super - 119FPS

Ghost Recon Wildlands 1080P
EVGA Black 2070 - 100FPS
Nvidia 2070 FE Super - 110FPS

Far Cry 5 1080P
EVGA Black 2070 - 118FPS
Nvidia 2070 FE Super - 132FPS

I didn't realise there was so much in it tbh. I've shown such little interest in RTX cards that for ages I just thought the 2070 was as fast as the 1080Ti. Seems not, it's 15% behind it...

I forgot that the 2080 was pretty much a 1080Ti with RT. Glad I checked at the last minute now, as even with the KFA cooler on it's got to be as good as the FE. It also sorta guarantees 1815mhz which doesn't sound bad to me. I doubt I will ever put it under water.

But yeah, if we deduct the game which I would have bought any way then £408 is not bad at all. Especially considering I also get Control with full RT effects on.

I didn't realise it was by the same guys who did Max Payne and Alan Wake. Those are two of my top 20 games for sure. I mean Max Payne 3? top 5. That was an absolutely amazing game.

I really liked Quantum Break too, right up until it broke my Xbox 1x and I had to send it back to bloody Germany. It literally bricked my console, and there was no fix. Bad Remedy.....

I did the maths earlier. Basically I got -

120gb WD SSD to RAID 0 with one I had.
400GB Intel U.2 ES mental crazy NVME. This thing hits over 2tb read. Far superior to anything costing £65.
2tb Firecuda
MSI Godlike X99A
16 core Xeon Broadwell (it's about as fast as a 1920x stock)
Corsair H80i V2
16gb RAM (4x4)
Numerous cables and adapters etc

Total is £1118 with the RTX 2070 Super. I'd hazard a guess and say you wouldn't get close buying new stuff. 1920x is pretty cheap right now (double the price of this Xeon though ! and so are the bloody boards!) but it's also a right pig to overclock and needed much more expensive RAM. The U.2 is insane and the Firecuda wasn't cheap either.

So yeah, very happy with what I built for the coin. That included a brand new 750w Aorus too, so literally a complete rig sans the case.

The best part, however, is that I now gain another entire gaming PC. So I am stoked about that. I need something to heat my bedroom, and I just bought Outer Worlds too, but tapped out after about 2 hours of sitting at a desk. God, I don't know how I used to be able to do 22 hour shifts at some crappy cheap desk with wooden chair.

Getting old sucks !

That's it. Sadly only videos are in German? you'll be fine Dice lol

It's a lot bigger than it looks in the pic. It's got 100mm fans, so they're pretty heft.

And by the law of sod I have fixed my Vega.

Yes it gets warm, but then I'm not surprised at 1677mhz, with the fans on silent.

What fixed it? a bios. I didn't realise that in the long string of the serial for the bios mine had 0 but there was one on TPU with 4 in the string. And it seems to have totally fixed it.

That said it is hot. And, I can feel the heat and I am not happy with that sort of power consumption. Then again that's Vega, I suppose.
