Wait for the reviews. If it comes down to availability now against availability when we can be arsed, I know where my money would go. Another thing to remember is a console is not a PC and that console graphics are not PC graphics. I'm not an audiophile, £1000 headphones are wasted on me. The bang per buck isn't there. The same goes for 240Hz and 8K monitors. Umptie zillion FPS and a very high fidelity image? Most of the benefit is in your imagination, and the rest simply not worth the coin. The best is the enemy of the good enough. YMMV but while you are waving your willy, I will just point and laugh, because the joke is on you.

The 6800 and 6800 XT are competition for the 3080. Both. It will be dead similar to the 5700 and 5700XT, and with all taken into account the 6800 could well be the bargain king to have.
The 3070 competition hasn't been shown yet. It will be a lower model with 12gb VRAM.
I think that is why people are getting confused and thinking the 6800 costs too much. Overclocking should hold the answers.

What makes you say that the 2,230MHz on the PS5 is fake? If the +30% clock speed improvement over RDNA1 is true then boosting past 2,250MHz is within the realm of possibility. 5700XTs with the relatively crappy blower setup were running at a average 1860MHz which would put the new average clock speed as up to 2,418MHz and a unlocked 5700 was able to clock at up to 1,963MHz which a 30% improvement would see 2,551.9MHz.
The way I see it is that it all comes down to the improvements in power efficiency as to how high the GPUs will clock as increasing the clock speed increases the power draw and power limits are going to be the main constraint when clocking so high.

You cannot compare the prices directly. It's not apples to apples.
2.23ghz won't be to far of a stretch to obtain. Also remember it's a much smaller die. It needs less power to run those higher frequencies.

It's well known that consoles are sold at a loss, at least the first iteration of them. They want to stand out against competing ecosystems, real money is made with game and service sales. There isn't an alternative revenue stream in GPUs. In addition, they're not bought in bulk by a single company.
Also, getting higher clock speeds is easier with a smaller die - they can also be binned.

That said, who has even mentioned overclocking yet? all we have seen is the base clocks, gaming clocks or whatever and boost clocks. It doesn't mean every one should assume AMD have left absolutely nothing at all in the tank. Not until the reviews go live and we find out.
Yep, the core counts. I'd say wait until you see the 6700XT clock speeds and it will probably unlock the answers for you.
