Your Improvements with Vdroop MOD

OK guys,

This is your opportunity to convince me that a Vdroop mod really helps.

Please post here how much further you were able to overclock your system once you had performed this mod to your Motherboard.

Many thanks

Mav

For those who need one the DFI lanparty Pro 875B vdroop mod is exactly the same as teh one used on the abit is7 and ic7 (not max3) MOBOS.

VDroop didn't help really to improve my o/c. I got the same 3.9+ stable. The only difference is that I don't have to push the Vcore to 1.8V for that anymore so I can get 1.65 under load. It stays at 1.65V all the time which should help my cache life expectancy.

In theory then, does this mean that if you use less volts to hit the same speed at high volts, if you higher the voltage and the FSB you could potentially get a higher and more stable clock?

I'm getting an IC7-MAX3 modded and just wondering what all the mods will enable me to do the I can't with my P4P800-E.

Cheers

Any idea what mods youre getting on your max 3?

cos believe me they are loads...

vagp,vdimm,vtt, you name it!

this board suffers the most by the Vtt not tracking correctly so personally it is the no1 mod that i need to do to my board.

Hipros 5 maximiser device will resolve that so i just didnt bother doing mods by cutting tracks in my board etc.

the vdroop on the max 3 is scary cos it jumps at over 1.8V which is dangerous for a prescott cpu for example.

In general all the mods in a max 3 board will give you higher stability on your ram....fsb and not just your cpu overclock.

In general a droop mod on a ap4c800e wont give you a higher max overclock. It will give you stability at the speed you want WITHOUT overvolting the cpu without any reason.

say you are aiming at 4ghz.Usually you would need 1.8V so that under load your cpu will be supplied with 1.7V that are spot on for example for you cpu overclocked at 4ghz.But when the cpu is iddling you get 1.8V due to the droop which is bad off course.

with a droop mod you get a small fluctuatio of the voltage you need so your cpu isnt overvolted or undervolted. That improves stability.

Hiya matey,

The boards going straight off to ThickBrit when I get it and he's agreed to do the mods for me.

As far as the mods go, I'm gonna try to get as many of them done as physically possible ;), I have Hipro5's MAX3 modding guide on my system at the mo and some of the mods look very interesting, what they will do I do not no but aparently they really help stability and overclocking.

Droop, and Vcore are DEFO on the list tho.
