XSPC Photon

You do it for the looks mate, as for loss and gain its utterly minimal to the point its not worth talking about.

this may seem like a dumb question, but can you mount this thing horizontal? I see all the photos of it laying on its backplate, and am wondering if it could be used that way? Say mounted on the psu shroud of the H440 case after covering up the SSD mounts?

I wouldnt because of the ports for the pump and air in the res. I dont think it ever looks right either :/

If pump and res is separate it can be done but the res and pump combo won't be ideal since they are mounted at the same height and as previously stated in the earlier post

It isnt a dumb qn, i am in the midst of doing it too. i havent gotten all my parts, but i already did my research and planning.

You can mount it horizontally if you get XSPC M20 to G1/4" Fillcap Adapter (Convert XSPC Reservoir M20 Threaded Filling Port to G1/4" Threads). I dont know where you are but these are not hard to find.

You can mount it, SSDs included (Res holder on the two SSDs, bridging the gap between the two and secured by some 3M velcro on the base) or SSD-less (Res holder on the PSU shroud proper, in front of the SSD brackets, and closer to your acrylic panel)

in this config, there are many ease of use drawbacks, for instance filling for the first time. but there are workarounds all of them, just that they involve money... so dont do it unless you are prepared to spend.
