hi.

is there any short comprehensive page showing the differences between home and pro versions of xp ?

Yes there is a difference. What I have been told is that Pro is better for gaming and is a bit faster then Home and also there is a huge price difference.

very minimal difference, other than price

generally pro is better for networking, but for everyday gaming/surfing etc you wont notice a difference

Not really worth in difference in price though unless you suck so much at games that you need every bit of an advantage! :rollingla

The only thing that I've noticed between Home and Pro is that Pro offers more advanced networking features for attaching to domains etc. Other than that and a different boot logo color that's about all I've noticed.

not much talk in pro's favor but one question remains.

if i buy an oem version tomorrow, can i still use it if i buy a c2d cpu new motherboard and a ati graphics card ?

read somewhere its locked to the hardware

doing this in my mcp studies, pro includes the following that home doesnt;

dynamic disks,

remote desktop

ntfs and print permissions

encrypting file system,

domain membership

dual processors

iis

straight out of a microsft training kit.

EDIT: you can use it, it may require you to reinstall windows (imo, best to do it anyways when changing this much hardware). It will prob bluescreen when you boot with new hardware. this is caused by HAL (hardware abstraction layer)
