well yes XP mobile processors overclock better because. The mobile's provide a lower voltage, and run on a 266 MHz bus. However, because of the lower voltage, the result is lower temps, and a lot of extra overclocking headroom.

oh and yeah they are unlocked

Hi :wavey:

There are a couple of important factors that make the XP-M such a desirable chip from an overclocking standpoint. The first is the default voltage of the chip. The chips are tested to ensure they can run at 1.8Ghz @1.45V instead of the desktop versions default of 1.65V. The second important mark in the XP-M's favour is what's missing: a multiplier lock. One of the big advantages of the XP-M is its unlocked multiplier, which allows for substantial performance gains without having to resort to bus overclocking.

also the silicon on mobile chips is almost perfect ( to allow the chip to run @ such low voltage); this means that there is less average curent leakage(heat given out) per cycles @ a given voltage than their desktop counterparts. it u are to purchase 1 get a 2600+ 45W with 'I' steppings ,i have 1 of these and it runs 11*200 2200MHz <3200+> at 1.425 volts :) which as u may know is fantastic www.excaliberpcs.com can guarantee I steppings on some of their mobiles the highest speed i had min @ was 2701Mhz (could have got higher if comp liked CAS 3); as PV mentioned the unlocked multi is also a gr8 addition (it allows u to attain a speed with higher bandwith if ur board/ram can handle it;

i suggest getting either a DFi Nforce 2 board or a Ab9t nf7-s 2 :)

Well, I have a MSI K7N2 Delta 2 mobo so, :) My computer was a budget PC, Once I get more ca$h I will eventually upgrade, Nick and I also salvaged parts from my two older HP's such as the HDD's and the Mem :)
