XFX Radeon 6850 Bios Flashing

Hello,

I have a XFX Radeon 6850 and i was reading online that you could flash the bios to a 6870 bios and it would make it so that when you have auto fan speed on the idle speed would be 20% instead of 40%. You also get higher clock speeds ect.

I was wondering if this is safe to do and is there any down sides to doing this. I would also like to know if it is easy to flash the bios and if i have any problems can i unflash it and put the original back on.

This can all be done in MSI Afterburner, so no need for flashing the card.

Which makes it a bit safer and alot easier to do!

Flashing the 6850 to a 6870 doesn't give you extra shaders (incase you didn't know)

Yes i knew that i would not get a extra shaders, i was just interested in knowing what it would do.
