i have just bought one of those cards to use with the C2D rig and i still keep getting the same and some times even less FPS of a 7900 in call of duty 2 why is that ??

my aim is to have 333 fps constant in cod 2 in dx 7 lvl and 125 in dx 9 , the settings are as follows

1280*1024

4xAA

16 AF

texture details high

xp and im using he latest from nvidia , bfore i had the 7600 and i have just unisntalled and installed the 8800 drivers

ok kemp but i have another problem when i press f8 i dont get that menu unless i get a windows error and then still icant use the keyboard , do you think i should try using a ps2 keyboard not usb?

i did everything as told tnx :) i did see a bit more improvement but tbh i expected more from a G80 even though i got 10258 in 3dmark 06

no iwanna get 333 constant in cod 2 at dx 7

Why even bother with an 8800GTS. DX7 is so old even a bloody ti4200 could cope, so what does 100FPS matter?

The 8800's are built for DX10 and to a lesser extent DX9 so there's 100% no point playing on DX7 and you won't see an increase in performance on this ancient DirectX version

May I ask why?

The human eyes can't detect frames when above 35FPS.

the game engine changes , with higher fps weopons shoot faster , you an jump higher and longer

READ what I just said then ask yourself why you just asked that question

yes but that means in dx 9 a 7 series card of ati 1950xtx will perform better?

so this means that we still have to see the performance of 8800s in games so it can unleash the beast within

I remember that with Battlefield 2 people had to delete their cache files after installing new hardware so the game didn't use the old one's settings or something like that. Does CoD2 have a cache file folder of some sort? If so, delete it.

EDIT: Oh, and Toxcity, are you sure that human eyes can't detect more than 35 fps? I kinda remember it was 70 fps....

Maybe it was 60.. :(

I forget.. But still 333FPS is not needed to play a good game. :p

No matter what card you use, you're going to be limited by your monitor's refresh rate. Most LCDs only do 60Hz (a few do 75), so while your card may be generating 300+ fps, the monitor is only going to show you 60 of them. Just turn on Vsync, otherwise you will get some jerkiness due to the monitor trying to change the image before it's finished drawing the previous one. I much prefer to play my games at constant 60fps with Vsync than 250fps without.
