Xeon or I7 980

I've been looking more into hardcore gaming, overclocking and folding. All that I've done is get confused.

Why are a lot of people using xeon and especially dual xeon's My link over I7 780 My link.

Doesn't the xeon kind of reduce O.C.'ing due to the CPU level automatic power consumption regulation. I also thought that the I7 980 was the tops??

Xeon's are Server grade processors. I believe they have a twice as high QPI link than the "consumer end" processors like the 980.

Just get a 970 fella. Gte to 200bclk and use the multi for the rest. Job done.

Gte = drawing a blank.

200bclk = 200 baseclock.

multi = multiplier? (I'm guessing here)

Aaah don't worry about it if you've any dedication you can catch up in a matter of weeks if not days

Ive got both a 980 and the 970 and the 970 is my favored cpu of choice, you will get better bclk clocks at lower volts. The 980's are betterat multiplier clocks for n00bs or people going subzero.
