XBox 360 "crashed randomly"

US players of the spangly new XBox have been a little dissapointed to find that they are seeing the console equivalent of the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD)

Forums have been inundated with posters saying that they experienced several different errors when playing various games at various points.

New owners of the console posted complaints about crashes to the Engadget, Xbox Scene, Team Xbox and Microsoft's official Xbox 360 forums.

The messages posted reported that some of the consoles stopped working after a short bout of playing or crashed during a game and flashed up an error number. Some users posted video and photographs of the crash screens.

Not looking too good for the very start of Big Blue's 2nd Console but we're assured that its just teething problems:

Microsoft spokeswoman Molly O'Donnell would not detail how many reports the company had received but did say the calls involved a "very, very small fraction" of all the consoles sold. The volume of calls was in line with Microsoft predictions, she said.

"With any launch of this magnitude, you're bound to see something happening," she said.

She urged users with problems to call the Xbox help line and if that did not fix the console, Microsoft would repair or replace the unit.

If this is a sign of whats to come with future consoles i'll certainly be steering clear.

The majority of people with consoles i know have them because they enjoy the reliability of them, and know that straight out of the box all their games will work.

WOOO! X-box's suck anyway! I've always thought the x-box is just a pc with controllers. If you want a PC get a PC, if you need a games console go Playstation

Its the 2nd - In terms of it crashing I've read that if you put the power supply on a box of some kind to make sure the air can circulate then it doesn't over heat and crash (so I was reading on another forum anyway).

problems with the 360 wouldnt suprise me... it was made by microsoft .. but im sure they'll just release software updates that will fix it... for me, im waiting for the ps3
