X800 Pelt Cooling

Hi guys,

I've got a DD Maze4 with pelt coming 2morrow, I have little experience with water cooling...

I've got the following -

Ehiem 1250

ThermoChill HE120.2 (4 x 120mm silentx fans)

DD Maze 4 with pelt

5 1/4 Bayres

Will the bayres and rad be enought to handle an x800 with 1.8GPU & will the pelt handle that?

I had my X800 under the pelt with 120:2 with 2 fans on @12v, a 4" criticool res, Hydor L20, and the DD Maze 4-1 pelt block (80w pelt).

GPU core was at 1.5-1.6v and in ATItool the temp was -14 degrees from the stock pelt!! I think this was a VERY good application myself as I re-seated it a few times.

I would say no prob with that setup you have. Very nice kit aswell.

Hi Again,

Epicurus mate there's not much point pelt cooling a 6800 because of the throttling at anything below 25 degrees, thats one reason I got rid of mine!!!

btw I'm soon to have a 172W pelt on a x800xtpe - cooling will be thermochill 120.3, eheim 1250, tygon, Swiftech block, DD res (ID1/2)

just ordered my 6800 DD block and I will see how I get on with that..

if all else fails I will sell up and get a x800 XT

at the mo I am not getting great results OC'ing my 6800

80w pelt with 12v supply runs my x800 xt -17c to 17c, very nice. I would be wary of running a 172w pelt off my PSU and also you would have to volt mod to stop it frezzing up!

You wouldnt need to volt mod it to stop it freezin up. Just turn the "turn monitor off" feature off and a decent screensaver is turned on so that the GFX is worked enough to stop it idleing. Major mav runs a custom phasechange on his and that can run 24/7 so i dont think a 172w TEC would cause too much probs

the pelt will be powered off a seperate PSu (meanwell) also the card will be volt modded
