X58 motherboards - quick question!

Hey guys, I noticed that the X58 based motherboards are roughly two and a bit CM bigger than a standard ATX. The length is still the same (30.5cm I think it is IIRC) but due to the extra bit of width, does this mean I would require a new case? Would it fit in a standard ATX case such as my Antec Nine Hundred?

Thanks in advanced ;)

Need this clarified as I'm planning to buy an i7 set up if I get a job :D

Surly this is what tape measures were invented for?

There are various boards about and coming out as well. Intel have produced a standard sized board iirc, they sacrificed 3 dimm slots though.

The bigest I've seen is the rampage and asus tell us:

ATX Form Factor

* One inch greater than standard ATX form factor 12 inch x 10.6 inch 30.5 cm x 26.9 cm )

Basically you'll be able to fit at least one I7 board. You might just be limited in choice.

(irritates me too btw that some of them are saying ATX form factor, and following the statement with a size that's bigger than the ATX form factor)

Thanks for that guys. Doesn't appear that I am going to be getting one though as there isn't a job near me available at the moment.

Now, if we look at a picture of the actual motherboard itself on Google for example, aren't the holes in the same place as on an ATX motherboard? Although they look the same, and the motherboard slightly overhangs slightly, doesn't this mean that it should surely fit?

ATX form factor require 9 screw fastenings. The lower thre fastening are holes 1, 2 and 4 on the picture of the case Rasto linked. The Rampage looks to be 3-4cm bigger to accomodate IDE, SATA and on-board buttons. So I would say that it fits so it is just over the lowest cable tie just as Rasto said.

It will fit but your gonna have fun if your WCing
